One thing I’ve noticed at this internship.. That I am at my most content when tasked to CREATE 🖌 whether that's content, blogs, briefs.. just to name a few For week 4 I analysed the current branding, brand identity, and online presence for a Greek Meze and cocktail outlet and; ✨ Created a design brief ✨ Created both static and dynamic promotional content to feature on TVs in the venue. To boost temptation purchase. ✨ Conducted market research in the form of a poll which was shared on my Instagram, to find out what customers expect from the name and description of the place, to help curate the brand identity and look. This also helped with the justification of the Greek-themed decoration. ✨ Suggested new menu items that fit with the brand identity, that had low production costs but would increase sales. e.g Mini Gyros ✨ Used my digital design skills to create an interior design mood board to create a stronger brand identity. This also included doing market research. This post will be shouting about the amazing work our intern Sana Jayaraj has been doing over the past 4 months. 🧡 Sana has been our Graphic Designer intern for the past 4 months, and we’re so proud of the work she’s done. No coffee runs or basic research tasks found here - working alongside our Creative Director, here’s how Sana has delivered outstanding visuals for us and our clients.  1/ Social media 📲 Sana put together a variety of graphics together for numerous clients during her time with us. Whether it was a client in recruitment, tech or for our own agency, she delivered visuals that not only looked fantastic, but received excellent engagement.  2/ Website antics 👩💻 Without any previous website design experience, Sana attacked this with passion in her stride. She added some fun icons to our site and experimented with colour contrasts, spicing it up in a very Small City way. But she didn’t just do our site - she also assisted in designing a website for a tech client of ours. So yes, her skills are super transferable across different industries!  3/ Photoshoot guru 📸 As Small City was going through their rebrand process, Sana suggested that the Directors should get some sparkly new photos to really showcase our personality. So that’s what we did. After putting together a mood board and ideas for video / stills, we think the end result came out pretty good, if we do say so ourselves.  4/ Animation 📹 Coming soon! Small City’s new website has a very fun video on the homepage. Sana not only filmed the footage, but added some text animations to the video once it had been edited by our Creative Director. It’s funky, it’ fresh, it’s very us. 👀 So, that’s that. Maintaining few laws of UI 🎨design principles, Keeping the webpage alive and minimal, so as not to overcrowd the visual experience of the user in a single frame. It holds a basic functionality of navigation for users to get information about the hotel, it's services and branches. 🖥️Keeping in mind that it's a hotel/resort website , I have chosen eye catching colors(mostly shades of red) and maintained the balance with white to keep the aesthetics alive. 💡 What suggestions do you have to enhance the user experience? ✨Having a Positive Mindset✨ This post is basically about a job I had applied for earlier this month. It was for a company in the UK and although I did not get a mail starting with "Congratulations", I have decided to focus on the positive side. This, being that I was shortlisted as part of the Top 20 applicants out of 600+. It must have been no easy fit, because the creativity of designers is so broad and execution is a whole other topic. Different people can receive a design task and interpret it in various simple to complex ways. I believe that this would always be the designers' advantage over AI. I am definitely a little sad about not getting the role, but rather than dwell on that, I have decided to dwell on being part of the 20, and to broaden my experience to be #1 at a different company. I also think it is important that I go back to this task and work on areas that the feedback received applies to. Now to some kinda good news. Today, I start a 2-month internship with a company in Dubai, and I hope to increase the length and breadth of my corporate design knowledge here. As a designer, I have come to find that aesthetics can only go so far, as some companies simply only care about functionality. Wish me luck in this new role! What I Learned During My Harper’s Bazaar Arabia Internship — My First Step Towards a Career in Writing After a 6-month IT internship, I realized that passion mattered more than just having a job. While I wasn’t sure what my next step would be, I knew I didn’t want to settle for a career I didn’t love. It was during this time that the influencer market was booming, and I found myself drawn to the digital space. One of the people who inspired me was Milli Midwood, Digital Editor at Harper's Bazaar Arabia. So, I did what any curious person would do—I slid into her DMs. To my surprise, that bold move got me an interview for an internship. Lesson 1: Take the Chance Sometimes, all you need is a little courage to send that message or make that call. The worst thing that can happen? They say "no." The best? You land an opportunity that changes everything. (Spoiler alert: they didn’t say no!) Lesson 2: Be Yourself The fashion industry can feel a bit like an exclusive club. Everyone around you looks effortlessly stylish, and there’s that nagging thought that maybe you don’t quite fit in. But here’s the trick: you don’t have to. Wear what feels right, be yourself, and let your work speak for you—whether you're rocking thrift store finds or the latest designer pieces. Lesson 3: Confidence in Your Decisions (And if You Make a Mistake, You Can Always Edit!) As an intern, I used to ask a lot of questions because I was terrified of making mistakes. I once overheard a senior getting annoyed with my constant inquiries, and let’s just say my younger self didn’t take it well. Looking back, I now realize: yes, mistakes will happen, but that’s part of the learning process. And the beauty of digital content? If you make a mistake, there's always the edit button! Don’t let the fear of getting it wrong stop you from doing great work. Lesson 4: Create with Purpose At Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, I learned that great content isn’t just about meeting deadlines—it's about asking, "Would I enjoy reading this?" Always think about how you can add value and push creative boundaries. Propose new ideas, bring fresh angles, and most importantly, enjoy the process. This internship didn’t just launch my writing career—it taught me to take risks, embrace my unique voice, and trust that every mistake is just an opportunity to edit and improve. Day 5 of 100

My 1st world manifestations have stopped me from pursuing something that imposes the slightest discomfort on me. No matter how much of a pit I am in. I'd never give that up. For me, luxury means having the luxury to not pursue something that goes against — My values My ways of working And my way of living life. Convenience is luxury, at least for me. Because it's not given to most of us on a silver platter. You have to work your way up to it to be able to choose what you're comfortable working with. From multiple internships to freelancing and jobs, taking up more work than I can handle, and then keeping my word for it — It took me seven years to bring the luxury of convenience into my life. That's why I don't give that up easy. What's luxury for you, though?
