As my social media internship at Fresh Prints comes to a close, I’m excited to reflect on this amazing experience. Fresh Prints is an Inc. 5000 company and the largest collegiate custom apparel brand, and I had the incredible opportunity to manage their TikTok page and show my creativity!
I worked closely with my rockstar manager, Shilpa Giri who truly made this experience special. She encouraged me to bring fresh ideas every week, and her support and belief in my vision helped bring them to life in a way that resonated with our audience.
I marketed Fresh Prints from the unique perspective of a sorority member, student, and new intern. A favorite moment was transforming the viral launch of SpongeBob’s meal at Wendy’s into a trendy merch design. This challenge required adaptability and showcased my ability to align popular trends with the brand’s objectives.
You might be curious, “SpongeBob meal? What is she talking about?” 😂 Brands today must seize trending moments to remain relevant. By adding in elements of pop culture, we can create content that feels fresh, authentic, and engaging for our audience. Mastering the art of adapting trends to deliver a brand's voice is an essential skill in effective social media marketing.

Looking back on an incredible journey as a Planning Intern at Ogilvy's 82point5 Communications! Over nine weeks, I delved deep into the world of branding and strategy, starting with the fundamentals of Branding and learning the nuanced differences between being a Planner and a Strategist.
Each week was a new adventure—analyzing how jewelry brands leverage social media on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and exploring how coffee giants such as Tim Horton and Starbucks engage their audience online. I also had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge Generative AI solutions and contribute insights for Himalaya Consumer Products.
One of the highlights was working on a Design Language exercise for Himalaya Consumer Products, drawing inspiration from top brands. Market research was eye-opening, from understanding how Indian teenage girls use products like Himalaya Neem Wash to uncovering what women aged 20-45 look for in sarees from Avantra.
Each week presented new challenges, from analyzing social media strategies of jewelry brands to understanding the saree market. The internship culminated with an exciting glimpse into the creative world through award-winning ads at Cannes Lions and brainstorming unique bottle designs for Bacardi.
I’m immensely grateful to mentors Bhavna Neelakantan and Anandita Wahal for their unwavering support throughout this journey! As a senior marketing student, I've always understood the the importance of marketing. But recently, there's been a shift in my perspective. I've transitioned from simply understanding marketing tactics to truly appreciating the power of branding.
Here's what sparked this realization:
Internship Experience: During my internship at The NOON Ltd., I witnessed firsthand how a strong brand identity can differentiate a company in a crowded marketplace. It wasn't just about selling products; it was about creating an emotional connection with customers.
Customer Insights: While researching consumer behavior, I discovered that customers are drawn to brands that resonate with their values and aspirations. A well-established brand goes beyond the product, embodying a personality, story and promise.
This new perspective has fueled my passion for marketing:

I can’t believe I’m almost a month into my internship!
I’ve learned so much over the past month, my brain gets heavier each day with all the knowledge I carry…
It’s my second internship with the Kura Monzen Gallery in Kyoto, Japan, and my role this time around was to join as a Social Media Intern. My main focus was boosting their Instagram engagement, views, and reach.
It’s been extremely rewarding, and very interesting to do – it is my first time managing an account solo, and all of the content put out there is written, edited, and (mostly) photographed by me. It is a whole world of responsibility, but I feel comfortable taking it knowing that I have the unending support of my coworkers and boss :)!
Things I’ve accomplished over the last month that I’m really proud of:
> Planned and executed a whole photoshoot! We set up the office to look like a home, and then decorated it with art from the latest exhibition. We brought flowers, fruit, pastries – everything we could think of to make it look cozy. I got to direct the whole session, spending the whole day just recording and photographing for the SNS.
> One of the videos I posted hit 2.9K views! More importantly: the reach on this post is 2.6K. The gallery has had posts reach that viewcount (though not in recent times), but the average amount of accounts reached is usually less than half of the views, meaning that the views come from replays. This is awesome news– hopefully it translates to new customers!
> Last month, less than 20% of our views came from non-followers. This month: we’ve already grown that total view count by 166%, and increased our non-follower views to 35%!!
> And lastly, when comparing the last two months– our amount of individual accounts reached has grown by a whopping 300%.
I’m feeling really good about this so far! I’m focusing a lot on creating content that encourages steady growth and a loyal following, so I hope to see these trends continue into the next month :)
Much of what I’ve been doing has come from self-study— I studied media arts, not marketing, so it is a bit of a shift. If anyone has any advice on how I could get more experience and level up my skill set, please let me know!

This goes for social media too, unless you're ready to guide them closely to make sure their posts match your sales and marketing messages.
