I’m an advocate for wrong decisions. 😬 But of course only if this wrong turn holds a lesson and potential for growth. Recently, in a recent podcast interview with Dr. Steffen Szameitat, we talked about the transformative power of errors and the crucial role of cultivating an environment where it’s safe to fail. This is a cornerstone for learning and development. Embracing a culture that views mistakes not as setbacks but as pivotal learning moments is something I strongly advocate for. It’s one of the best things about #VRtraining. You can fail. You can take risks. It doesn’t cost anything. Leveraging technologies like virtual reality and 360 video, combined with compelling storytelling, we can create immersive learning experiences that closely mimic real-life scenarios. These experiences allow individuals to navigate through situations filled with stress and anxiety, typical emotions experienced when making incorrect decisions. Such emotional engagement ensures that the lessons learned from these decisions are deeply ingrained. Integrating virtual reality into our learning frameworks can significantly reduce the costs associated with failure, all the while maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment. This approach not only fosters resilience but also prepares individuals to face real-world challenges with confidence and wisdom. What are your thoughts and experiences on this? How have your decisions shaped your path, and what have you learned along the way? #LearningAndDevelopment #CompanyCulture #VirtualReality #InnovationInLearning #immersivelearning #warpvr #vrlearning #vrtraining #360video

What an amazing partnership between Curriculum Associates and SoapBox Labs. I totally want to work with this team that provides feedback to students down to the phoneme. Perhaps it's something I had foreseen: I still have an email I sent to Soapbox Labs in July 2022 asking, "Have you partnered with Curriculum Associates yet?" Ever since I read "The Diamond Age" by Neal Stephenson, I imagined a day where students had a personal tutor in their pocket they could communicate with conversationally. When schools were shut down during the COVID pandemic, my first thought was, "How are we going to teach reading remotely?" When schools reopened, I thought, "It would be great to use technology that could analyze students' speech and give immediate corrective feedback. That is the best way to boost reading achievement, and I can't listen to all the students in my class simultaneously." I started researching Voice AI and Conversational AI an dabbled in exploring the field. I used iReady from Curriculum Associates for a number of years and I like the personalized instruction it provided for my students. Yet, the conversational component has been missing. The SoapBox Labs technology will bring more learning to life. Now, my goal is to work for these teams to make realities from dreams.
Thrilled to have been a guest on the latest episode of the Edtech Insiders podcast, discussing how AI can transform educational assessment to better serve instructional needs by empowering teachers with valuable insights to accelerate student learning. Transformative and memorable learning experiences are not one-size-fits-all. That's why we're obsessed with connecting with learners on an emotional level. We believe extended reality technologies work best for the things that are too difficult, dangerous or impossible to do in the real world. Just ask the journalists pictured here in #Ukraine, training to improve their frontline skills. VR training shouldn't just be generic e-learning content in 3D. We invest time: → Understanding the needs of learners. → Crafting compelling narratives that really resonate. → Iterating based on feedback to truly transform the learning experience. Want to learn more about how we do it? Let’s connect! #VRtraining #humancentereddesign #learninganddevelopment

One of the things I found very, very interesting about doing this conversation series inside of a virtual world, it's far more immersive ... There's so much more depth to what we can actually experience. - Dave Cairns Anybody who does show up has a degree of open-mindedness and intellectual curiosity that usually makes it a very positive experience. - Dave Cairns People take care of each other. Like if somebody new comes in and they're walking into walls or whatever, people will step in and show them how to do things. So that's been cool. - Dave Cairns ---------------------------- Virtual worlds as an augmentation to the real world, a bit more than a phone or video call. Not a substitute for being together, but an alternative, a third place if you will, that provides a different kind of shared experience. Augmented (not artificial) Dave has spent quite a time moderating groups in Virbella, and has generally been pleased with the experience, as have most of the attendees. No Goggles Required.
