It’s no secret that progress in racial inclusion - particularly in Black #talent development - has long lagged behind advancements in other areas on the diversity, equity and inclusion (#DEI) agenda. While many organisations were quick to make public commitments to drive change from the top, action has often not translated to much-needed change. As #BlackHistoryMonth celebrates the legacies of trailblazers who’ve shaped our collective history, it also provides a much-needed opportunity for organisations and #leaders to reflect on their own roles in driving Black #inclusion, and renewing commitments to change that are backed by action. To truly make progress, organisations must start investing in the talent development of Black employees as a priority. In our latest blog, we’ve explored why a laser focus on Black professionals isn’t just an organisation’s moral duty, but is also a business imperative in today’s working world. We must ensure Black representation and inclusion at decision-making tables across Britain - the benefits in doing so are indisputable. Read more about why via the link in the comments below 🔗⬇️

Today, let’s dive into why Black inclusion is a cornerstone of effective diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. It’s not just about checking boxes—it's about genuinely integrating Black perspectives and experiences into every facet of our organizations and communities. Real DEI means creating spaces where Black people are represented and leading, influencing, and shaping policies and practices. It’s about actively dismantling barriers, promoting fair opportunities, and celebrating Black contributions and achievements. Let’s ensure that Black voices are at the forefront of our DEI initiatives, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable future for all. The HACR - Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility is leading a powerful coalition of allied organizations representing historically underrepresented groups, including Asian Americans, Indigenous Peoples, people with disabilities, women, and Black and Hispanic communities. Launched in Washington, HACR President and CEO Cid Wilson began a 240+ mile trek from Capitol Hill to Wall Street in New York City’s financial district. Our commitment to change is unwavering. This is why we continue to work alongside our incredible partners, such as the Global Black Economic Forum and The Executive Leadership Council (ELC), to champion #DEI at every level of corporate leadership. One thing is clear: From Diversity to Inclusion: Empowering the Black Voice in Corporate America - Time to Do the Work is resonating with readers. Stats show that success for self-publishers is selling about 1,000 copies/books over 12 months. Imagine selling almost 1,000 copies in just 60 days. I didn't want hundreds of pages because in my view, that's part of the problem, the research has been compressed and the work is much simpler to digest and use the book as a reference guide afterwards. Juneteenth - a day to celebrate freedom, resilience, and the enduring spirit of Black Americans. A day steeped in history, a reminder of the ongoing fight for racial equality and a call to action to keep pushing for a more inclusive future. Juneteenth - a catalyst to take action – to educate ourselves, amplify Black voices, and dismantle systemic barriers. As an HR leader, I'm committed to fostering inclusive workplaces where everyone feels valued. We can create spaces that celebrate diversity and empower everyone to be their authentic selves. I'm so grateful to work at a company that celebrates and recognizes the importance of Juneteenth, but let's be real, not all companies are there yet. Let's use Juneteenth as a springboard for progress. We can all contribute to a more equitable future by advocating for racial justice in our workplaces and communities. Here's to dismantling barriers and fostering a more inclusive future, one where everyone feels valued and respected!! ✊🏾❤️🖤💚💛🖤✊🏾 #Juneteenth #BlackHistory #DiversityMatters #BuildinganEquitableFuture #Buildinginclusiveworkplaces #Blackexcellence #blackgirlmagic
