The apprenticeship model presents an opportunity to close the digital divide, but the deck is stacked against it. Nevertheless, Parachute Group will carry-on. 🟢 The federal government spends $70 billion on higher education and $285 million on apprenticeships, a paltry amount even though they’ve been proven to work both abroad and at home. #apprenticeshipswork #veteranssupportingveterans #veteransuicideawareness

📢 New Apprentice Reforms: What They Mean For Your Business The government’s recent apprenticeship reforms could provide a great opportunity for businesses. The new “growth and skills levy” replaces the old apprenticeship levy, offering greater flexibility, including shorter apprenticeships tailored to business needs. These reforms also introduce “foundation apprenticeships” to support young talent in essential sectors. While high-level apprenticeships will require more direct employer funding, this shift could help address the UK’s skills gap and future-proof your workforce. Learn more about how these changes can benefit your business in our full article. https://lnkd.in/eZCHcuiV

This may have gone a little under the radar for many but it essentially has the aims of increasing apprenticeships to 20,000. My own view is that it doesn't quite make the steps needed to really drive the value and engagement of apprenticeships but have a read of the article and see what you think. https://lnkd.in/dTZCvrBH

Over the last decade, apprenticeship starts in the UK fell by 45%. As the October 30 budget approaches, various organisations are urging for better allocation of existing levy resources, rather than seeking additional funds. The new Labour government has proposed a 'growth and skills levy' which aims to provide businesses with more flexibility in using their contributions, focusing on entry level apprenticeships while reducing funding for higher-level programmes, equivalent to a masters degree. Let's see how this unfolds in the coming months! https://lnkd.in/d7rUGHcu

With continued bipartisan support for apprenticeships and Apprenticeship Degrees, “The national spotlight on apprenticeship programs suggests these programs are going to enjoy more support in the future, whoever becomes the next president. Higher ed and workforce experts say colleges and universities should see it as an opportunity to get more involved in the apprenticeship system rather than as a competitor,” writes Sara Weissman in Inside Higher Ed. Apprenticeship Degrees bridge traditional apprenticeships with affordable, career-aligned degrees. At this year’s Labour Conference, the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, announced major reforms to the apprenticeship system during his speech. Some of the key changes announced include: 🏗️ Re-introducing foundation apprenticeships, which will provide opportunities for young people to enter into critical sectors, enabling to earn & learn. 🕒 Announcing that the new growth and skills levy will allow funding for shorter apprenticeships, increasing the flexibility so they do not need to run for 12 months. 💰 The changes will also mean that businesses will fund more of their level 7 (master’s level) apprenticeships outside of the levy. https://bit.ly/3XAMK7X #skills #skillsforlife #skillsforthefuture #apprenticeships #FE #FurtherEducation #conference #labourconference #labourconference24 #earnandlearn #workforcedevelopment #apprenticeshipreform

Apprenticeships and the Kings Speech A change to the use of the levy (growth and skills levy), and the end of IfATE as we know it The Kings speech is available on .gov, and here is the transcript with regard to apprenticeships https://lnkd.in/dvX9ZrjE "My Government will establish Skills England which will have a new partnership with employers at its heart [Skills England Bill], and my Ministers will reform the apprenticeship levy." The background briefing https://lnkd.in/dtvePWPh provides more detail about skills England (Page 67 & 68): It seems to indicate the beginning of the end for IfATE as we know it: "The Bill will transfer functions from IfATE to Skills England" Skills England functions will be to: - develop a single picture of national and local skills needs. - identify the training for which the Growth and Skills Levy will be accessible - ensure that the national and regional skills systems are meeting skills needs and are aligned. and "To deliver this role, it is expected that Skills England will need to take on several of the functions the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education" #apprenticeships #endpointassessment #epa #epaos
