I had the privilege of participating in the Way Forward from COP29 Azerbaijan: Asia-Pacific Youth Debrief, a dynamic platform that brought together youth leaders and changemakers across the region to reflect, strategize, and collaborate. This event was an inspiring two-way exchange—learning, sharing, and identifying ways to include youth voices in shaping sustainable food systems and climate solutions. As the founder of an Agri Ed-Tech company, I believe that partnerships with youth networks like Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) are crucial to empowering young people and children to become active participants in sustainable solutions. At OMG, we focus on nutrition education and sustainable agriculture, engaging youth and schools to drive climate-conscious actions at the grassroots level. This event was an inspiring two-way exchange—learning, sharing, and identifying ways to include youth voices in shaping sustainable food systems and climate solutions. Collaborations like these show the power of partnerships to amplify impact and create real change! 🌱✨ Thank you to YECAP and UNDP for leading this initiative and uniting youth for a sustainable future. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier planet! UNICEF British Council #ClimateAction #YouthParticipation #Sustainability #Partnerships #COP29 #AgriEdTech #OMGOrganicMicrogreens #YouthLeadership

🌍 UNGA79 Recap: Are We on Track for the #SDGs by 2030? 🌍 At #UNGA79, much of the world’s attention focused on the pivotal Summit of the Future and the intense last-minute negotiations around the Pact for the Future. Yet, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remained central—not only during the SDG Moment on September 24 but in speeches, reports, and discussions throughout the week. So, where do we really stand on the road to achieving the SDGs by 2030? 📊 Key Insights from the 2024 SDSN Report: - Progress Update: Just 16% of SDG targets are currently on track, while the remaining 84% are either lagging or seeing a reversal. - Critical Areas of Concern: SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 16 (Peace and Justice) are particularly off course. - Challenges and Impacts: Global conflicts, economic crises, and climate emergencies are slowing SDG momentum, particularly for food systems and sustainable development. 🌎 Regional and Issue-Based Trends: - Nordic countries lead in SDG progress, while less-developed nations still struggle. Notably, BRICS+ countries (Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, and India) have made significant strides. - Vulnerable Goals: Rising obesity (SDG 2), press freedom declines (SDG 16), biodiversity loss (SDG 15), and lower life expectancy (SDG 3) are pressing concerns. With only five years remaining, global leaders—including UN Secretary-General António Guterres—urged nations to intensify their efforts: “The SDGs are not about checking boxes…Let’s rescue the SDGs and fight for the better future every person deserves.” As we look to Baku’s #COP29 and beyond, the call for action, reform, and sustainable investment has never been clearer.

🌍💡 Empowering Youth-Led Climate Action in Pakistan 💡🌍 As #COP29 begins tomorrow, we're inspired by the powerful voices of Pakistan's youth! With over 60% of the population under 30, young people hold a pivotal role in the fight against climate change. Their leadership and vision are essential for building a sustainable, climate-resilient future for us all. The Pakistan-German Climate and Energy Partnership (PGCEP) continues to support a whole-of-society approach, facilitating dialogues and initiatives that promote green and socially just transformation in Pakistan—ensuring that youth voices are not left behind in policy conversations. Recently, PGCEP supported the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Pakistan together with British Council, UNDP Pakistan and Islamic Relief Pakistan. This dynamic event brought together passionate young climate activists, innovators, and advocates to share ideas, collaborate, and amplify their efforts toward climate action at the grassroots level. 🌱 As a key outcome of the conference, the voices of Pakistani youth will be translated in a national statement that will feed directly into the Global Conference of Youth (COY) and consequently into the climate negotiations at #COP29 in Baku. This is a powerful step towards ensuring that youth are not just participants, but potential leaders in the climate dialogue and their voices can influence climate policy at a global scale. 🌍💬 #RoadToCOP29 #COP29Azerbaijan #ClimateAction #ClimateEnergyDosti Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) | Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH | KfW | Skynok | Skillistan | DigiLite Global | NextGen Sustainability Hub | Pak Mission Society | VGreenO | Taqalum | Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) | Movers Programme

The engagement with #Agenda2030 is currently too slow to catalyze the magnitude of change that is now urgently needed to avoid the worsening of a series of converging crises that are already upon us — rapid climate change, famines, mass-migration, fundamentalism, resource wars, biodiversity loss and economic volatility to name but a few. We need to turn the #GlobalGoals into actively shared objectives for all of humanity, if we want to create a more sustainable world that works for all by 2030. Having national leaders endorse a non-binding #UnitedNations agreement to support the #SDGs is not enough. Leaders can — at best — set an intention on behalf of their electorate. Manifesting the agenda will require active participation of people and communities around the world. We need effective collaboration between the public and private sector and civil society at local, regional and global scale. We need to create processes that generate engagement with the SDGs at the level of communities and bioregions everywhere. Only if local people will take responsibility for implementing the SDGs in their community and their region do we have a realistic change of accomplishing the audacious task set by Agenda 2030. To motivate such a commitment we need people to understand the multiple benefits that will result from a successful implementation of all SDGs for their own lives, their families and communities, nations, and for humanity and the community of life as a whole. Declaration of Bold Commitments: Shaping the Future at the Summit I participated in the Summit of the Future, where world leaders and experts came together to address the most pressing challenges facing humanity. This gathering wasn’t just about identifying issues but about committing to real, actionable solutions for a more sustainable and inclusive future. The final declaration laid out a bold framework to accelerate the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Key priorities included eradicating poverty, ending food insecurity, advancing climate action, and strengthening global peace. The summit also highlighted the importance of technology and innovation in closing development gaps and ensuring that no one is left behind. A major outcome was the call for stronger international cooperation, particularly in empowering developing nations. Global progress requires collective action, solidarity, and shared responsibility to meet today’s challenges and build a prosperous future for all. This summit marked a turning point, setting the stage for a more resilient, just, and sustainable world. Now, the focus shifts to transforming these commitments into real-world actions that will benefit current and future generations. #futuresummit #un #undp #unfccc ##unwomen #NY #cop29 #cop16 #climateweek #agn #amcen #gender #youth #innovation #sdg #creativity United Nations UNICEF UNDP UNDP Climate UN Women IOM - UN Migration African Development Bank Group UN Environment Programme UN Climate Change Future Summit IUCN Climate Emergency Fund Climate Action Global Center on Adaptation COP29 Azerbaijan

🔎 The failure to comply with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations for 2030 is bad news for the world and, especially, for the Mediterranean region where climate change is the key challenge of our time and the main challenge for its economic development. According to UN's 2023 Sustainable Development report, only 12% of the evaluable goals will be achieved by 2030. 📌 ASCAME warns that this situation is particularly serious in the Mediterranean, one of the regions most affected by the consequences of climate change. Not only it causes losses of between 5% and 15% of its annual GDP, but it also causes increasingly frequent natural disasters, such as floods, earthquakes, rising sea temperatures, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity or decreased agricultural productivity. In addition, this situation has a negative impact on the achievement of social challenges that are increasingly urgent, such as eradicating extreme poverty or guaranteeing gender equality and inclusive education across all the countries. 🎯 To reverse this situation, ASCAME calls on the public and private sectors to promote regional integration, avoid further restrictions on the financing of climate action projects, and move towards a greater multilateral cooperation, with a global and comprehensive agreement on progress towards a sustainable development. #ASCAME #Mediterranean #Mediterraneancooperation #medconnet #shapingthefutureoftheMediterranean #unitedbytheMediterranean #greeneconomy #blueeconomy #2030Agenda #Mediterraneansustainability #WeAreASCAME #ASCAMEprojects
