Day 5: #100DaysOfLinkedIn Post Challenge. Happy New Month, Everyone! As we step into the final chapter of 2024, I’m reminded of how much can happen in just a few weeks. December is not only a time for reflection but also for strategising how to end the year strong and set the stage for a successful new one. Today, as part of my 100-day LinkedIn Challenge, I want to share a personal story that highlights the power of data-driven decision-making in action, a concept every business analyst should hold dear. Case Study: When Numbers Told the Story Not too long ago, I worked with a team tasked with turning around a struggling product line. Sales were plummeting, and morale was low. Initially, we thought pricing was the issue, but the data revealed something surprising. By analysing customer behaviour, sales data, and feedback, we discovered: 1. Most of our target audience loved the product but didn’t fully understand its unique value. 2. Our marketing efforts focused on features, not benefits. 3. Key markets with potential had barely been explored. Using these insights, we shifted our focus to customer education, revamped the messaging to emphasise the benefits, and launched a campaign targeting the overlooked markets. Within a very short period, the product’s sales rebounded by 35%, and we had a clear playbook for future growth. Lesson Learnt: Data doesn’t just give you numbers; it tells a story. The ability to listen, interpret, and act on that story is what sets exceptional businesses apart from the rest. So, as you look ahead to 2025, ask yourself: 1. 🧩 Rookie Mistake #4: Falling into the Trap of Information Overload 🧩 This topic cannot be overfloged, I mentioned it in the opening post of the series and I feel it’s important I do another post on it again. Let me take you back to a common scenario… It’s the night before a big presentation. You’ve spent days gathering data, dissecting metrics, and making sure every tiny detail is in your slide deck. You’re ready to dazzle the client with your in-depth analysis. But the moment you start presenting, you see their eyes glaze over. What went wrong? In marketing, more information doesn’t always equal better insights. In fact, too much detail can lead to analysis paralysis for both the strategist and the client. Instead of impressing them, you’ve overwhelmed them. Sometimes, the most effective strategy is to pull back. Prioritize the data that speaks directly to the problem and lets the core message shine through.
