This is interesting. Renewable gas is now flowing through a Firstgas pipeline for the first time. #RenewableGas, or biomethane, is chemically identical to conventional natural #gas but comes from #renewable sources such as organic #waste. Waste is converted to gas at Ecogas' Reporoa facility, then injected into the Firstgas pipeline for residential and commercial gas users. BioCO2 is also produced for Ecogas as part of this new system. This will be supplied to a nearby glasshouse to enhance the growth of tomatoes in the near future. GasNZ has set a target of 5% renewable gas flowing through the pipelines by 2030. Research shows New Zealand could produce enough renewable gas to meet residential demand. Powerco is exploring renewable gas development. Around 90% of its pipeline network is compatible with renewable gases. Globally, renewable gas is seen as a critical pillar of #decarbonisation. Leading the charge in Europe, Denmark has made significant progress, supplying nearly 40% of its natural gas grid with biomethane, and targeting 100% biomethane by 2030. #ClimateChange #Energy https://lnkd.in/gvycxJeG

Elcowire signs heads-of-terms agreement with Meva Energy. (Deutsche Version, bitte verwenden Sie die URL in den Kommentaren unten.) Elcowire AB, a leading European manufacturer of copper wire products, has entered into a Heads-of-Terms agreement with Meva Energy, a renewable energy provider. This agreement establishes the framework for the long-term supply of up to 9 MW of biogas to Elcowire’s Helsingborg facility. With this move, Elcowire will become the world’s first copper wire producer to operate using fossil-free energy. By transitioning from fossil gas to Meva Energy’s renewable biogas, Elcowire aims to decarbonize its copper melting process, setting a new sustainability benchmark for the global metallurgy industry. This partnership also represents an important step for Elcowire in achieving its long-term environmental goals. “We are excited about this partnership. Elcowire shares the vision of setting a new standard for sustainable manufacturing. By leveraging Meva Energy’s scalable renewable solutions, we are confident that fossil-free production is not only possible but essential in energyintensive sectors like copper manufacturing. Together, we can drive significant change and inspire the entire industry to adopt greener practices,” says Paul Gustavsson, CEO of Elcowire Group. “The partnership with Elcowire shows the scalability of our renewable energy solutions for heavy industry. Together, we want to set a new standard for sustainable manufacturing,” says Niclas Davidsson, CEO of Meva Energy. The Heads-of-Terms agreement outlines the foundational principles for a future biogas delivery contract, which both companies aim to finalize soon. This development follows a successful feasibility study by Meva Energy, confirming the viability of biogas in Elcowire’s industrial processes. #sustainability #biogas #elcowire

News to share from France 🇫🇷 in the Renewable Natural Gas #RNGindustry. Veolia, Waga Energy, and #ENGIE have formed a powerful partnership to push the boundaries of sustainable energy production. Since May 1st, Waga Energy has been selling RNG produced at Veolia’s Val Pôle in Claye-Souilly to ENGIE under a #Biomethane Purchase Agreement (BPA), without government subsidies 👏🏼 This 13-year contract is the longest BPA ever signed in France, marking a significant milestone in the RNG market. Veolia supplies biogas from the Claye-Souilly landfill, one of France’s largest RNG production units with an annual capacity of 120 GWh, equivalent to the energy consumption of around 20,000 households. Waga Energy converts this biogas into high-value RNG using its cutting-edge technology. The RNG is marketed by ENGIE at a higher value than the subsidized price, highlighting the growing economic viability of renewable energy sources. This agreement also enabled Waga Energy to secure long-term financing from CIC and Arkéa Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels for the RNG production unit. Miya PAOLUCCI of ENGIE stated, “The signing of this new BPA contributes to ENGIE’s goal to supply 30 TWh of RNG per year to our customers by 2030.” This collaboration not only supports ENGIE’s ambitious goals but also accelerates the transition towards a sustainable energy future. Estelle Brachlianoff, CEO of Veolia, emphasized, “Veolia is a key player in the production of bioenergy, already producing 1.6 terawatt-hours of biogas from waste anaerobic digestion in France alone.” This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration in driving innovation and sustainability in the energy sector. As the world shifts towards greener energy solutions, such initiatives are crucial for reducing our carbon footprint and fostering economic growth 🔝 #RenewableEnergy #RNG #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #GreenInnovation #Veolia #WagaEnergy #ENGIE #Bioenergy #ClimateAction #Irbisio #Cleantech

▶ Orcan Energy enters the French market with a biogas heat-to-power project Yesterday, the French biogas company MP Biogaz celebrated the commissioning of Orcan Energy’s heat-to-power solution. 🟢 Our system utilizes the waste heat from the exhaust gas from two biogas engines. ⚡ Yearly, the module produces 1,500 MWh of electricity. 🍃 At the same period, it saves around 1,100 tons of CO2. 🇫🇷 The project marks our market entry in France where we will intensify our efforts now. After successful operations in Asia, North America, and various European markets, Orcan Energy extends its geographical footprint further. Besides biogas, geothermal plants and the industrial sector have the greatest potential. Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena) supports Orcan Energy’s entry into the French market. 🗨️ Hermann Roehm, Head of Global Power Applications at Orcan Energy: “This project is an important first step for Orcan Energy into the French market – and it will certainly not be the last one. We are delighted to partner with a green energy forerunner like MP Biogaz to turn waste heat into clean and affordable electricity.” This project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action as part of the Renewable Energy Solutions Programme of the German Energy Solutions Initiative.
