Despite this shift, U.S. consumers continue to show a strong preference for caloric sweeteners, with honey and brown sugar being the most popular choices. A major food trend in 2024 you are a part of. Globally, consumers have become increasingly interested in what they eat, especially the ingredients used to make their favorite food products. This might be because of the advent of fake food products and food adulteration. If you've been following me for a while now, you'll see that most of my posts emphasize checking labels on food products to know what you're buying. You eat every day, and what you eat impacts every area of your life. Food and beverage companies have noted consumer interest in food ingredients, so there has been more transparency about the ingredients used in their products. Also, the use of local ingredients has been a recent trend. Consumers want value added to their diet, so local ingredients are more sourced because of their health benefits. For example, I recently saw a dawadawa (locust beans) seasoning cube in the market. How many of you have seen or tried it? PS: If you have noticed any other food trends, I'd love it if you'd share them in the comment section. The Impact of Expiry Dates on Food Quality and Safety Expiry dates play a crucial role in maintaining food safety, quality, and nutritional value. When it comes to wholesale food products, understanding and monitoring expiration dates is essential for both retailers and consumers. Safety and Freshness: Expiry dates ensure that foods are consumed at their peak quality. Beyond this date, there’s a higher risk of spoilage and reduced freshness, which can affect both taste and safety. Nutritional Value: Over time, some nutrients naturally degrade. Foods kept past their expiration date may have diminished nutritional benefits, making it essential to stock fresh products. Customer Trust: Properly managing expiry dates demonstrates care and transparency, building trust with consumers who rely on businesses for high-quality, safe foods. Waste Reduction: By tracking inventory effectively, businesses can reduce waste and save on costs by ensuring products are sold within their optimal timeframe. At Lishaam, we prioritize quality control to ensure that our Middle Eastern food products meet safety standards and arrive fresh to our customers. This commitment helps keep our clients’ shelves stocked with the highest-quality products, creating a dependable supply chain that everyone can count on. #FoodSafety #ExpiryDates #WholesaleFood #QualityControl #Lishaam

Here are some Advantages and disadvantages of fresh and frozen fruits you be the judge. 🥭🥦🍎 Fresh fruits and vegetables have a higher water content and therefore offer natural hydration that is important for cellular health. Healthful fats. Also because vitamins in the vegetables particularly the water soluble ones such as B vitamins & vitamin C are degraded when exposed to air, heat and light. Some frozen meals are high in sodium, which can contribute to high blood pressure and other health issues when consumed in excess. Though many frozen fruits and vegetables have no added salt, many frozen meals, like frozen pizza, do add dome Disadvantages of freezing it costs a great deal to buy and maintain a freezer. Do you know how to tell if a food is truly low-fat or 'fat-free'? 🤔 Legally, a food is only considered low-fat if it contains 3% fat or less. But sometimes labels can be misleading, making you think you’re buying a low-fat product when it actually contains 5% fat and doesn’t meet the low-fat criteria. ❌ 'Low-fat spread' is an example - many believe it has less than 3% fat, but it can contain up to 41% fat. 😱 This confusion makes it tough for consumers to make informed choices. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is responsible for policy on food labeling and compositional standards, but only in non-safety-related areas. Misleading terms like these can easily confuse consumers, affecting their ability to make healthy choices. 🛑 So, how can we help ourselves and put pressure on food companies and the government for clearer labeling in the UK? 🏛️ 1. 📢 Report misleading labels to Trading Standards. 2. ✔️ Join voluntary food assurance schemes like Red Tractor or British Lion eggs and egg products - On the Red Tractor website, you can find food products that are traceable, safe, and responsibly farmed. They even feature seasonal recipes from Michelin-star chefs, so you can make the most of these high-quality ingredients 3. 🔍 Read food labels carefully, paying attention to ingredients, serving sizes, and nutritional info. 4. 📖 Learn to read labels by focusing on the 'big four': total fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt. For more information, check the Food Standards Agency website. 🌐 #eatwell #wellbeing #wellness #healthandwellbeing #workplacewellbeing #koyowellbeing

Fast food is a popular category of food that emphasizes quick preparation and convenience. Originating in the early 20th century, it has become a global phenomenon, characterized by its standardized menu items and efficient service. Chains like McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s are iconic examples, offering products such as burgers, fries, and soft drinks. The appeal of fast food lies in its affordability and speed, providing a quick meal solution for busy individuals. Its consistency in taste and quality also attracts customers who seek familiar flavors and reliable service. However, fast food has been criticized for its potential health risks, including high levels of calories, fats, sugars, and sodium, which can contribute to obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Despite these concerns, the fast food industry continues to evolve, with many chains introducing healthier options like salads and grilled chicken. Additionally, there is a growing trend towards sustainable practices and local sourcing to address environmental and ethical issues. The balance between convenience and health remains a central theme in the ongoing development of fast food. click here 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 https://lnkd.in/gfRhJG5p

Our Food System Our family has been lucky enough to travel to Europe a few times over the last few years. When we go, we eat pasta, bread, and any grains without any stomach issues. In the States, we have been gluten-free (when possible) for almost 10 years because our bodies can’t process it. I had no clue why, but I am starting to learn the reasons. A month ago, on some social media site, I saw a picture of a beach in the 1950s with a quote something like, “What do you notice about the picture?” I didn’t really notice anything, so I clicked below to read the comments section. Turns out everyone was thin in the picture, and they were. It then goes on to talk about the why, it's our highly processed, sugar-laden food. Over the next few days, my feed was then filled with other articles and continued to pick up information. A few days later, I started a quest to cut out as much added sugar from our diet as possible. Two weeks ago, I listened to RFK Jr.’s speeches on our food supply, and that opened my eyes even more. After doing some additional research, I have realized that our food supply and how we eat are broken. Now I know that many chemicals in our food supply are banned in Europe, including Round-Up in our wheat. Hence, the reason I can’t eat grains in the US, but I can in Europe. It’s the start of the journey and requires a lot of planning/cooking but we eat 95% fresh foods, pasture-raised meats, nuts, olive oil, and even a glass of red wine most nights. I feel better and have lost 10 lbs without doing any additional physical activity over the last few weeks. I have read or listened to podcasts from the following people so far, Dr. Steven Gundry, Dr Mark Hyman, Max Lugavere, and Dr Casey Means to start the journey. Always open to other suggestions if you have any. Steven Gundry Max Lugavere Mark Hyman, MD Casey Means, MD
