Summer is here, and it's the perfect time to hit the beach here in Florida! But, before you dive in, let's talk about staying safe in the water, especially when it comes to rip tides. Knowing how to spot and react to rip tides can make all the difference. Here’s what you need to know⤵️ How to Spot a Rip Tide: 🌊 Rip tides often appear darker because they are deeper channels of water. 🌊 These areas might look more turbulent with surface debris and frothy water. 🌊 Rip tides are often found in calm spots between waves breaking onshore. 🌊 A rip tide can be brownish due to sand being stirred up from the bottom. What to Do if Caught in a Rip Tide: 🧘 Stay calm: Conserve your energy and don’t panic. 🏊 Don't fight the current: Swim parallel to the shore until you're out of the rip tide. 🦦 Float or tread water if tired: Let the current carry you until it weakens, then swim back to shore at an angle. 🆘 Signal for help: If you can’t escape, wave your arms and shout to attract attention. Additional Safety Tips: 🛡️ Always swim near a lifeguard. 📡 Check local beach conditions and rip tide alerts. 👫 Never swim alone; always have a buddy. Let's make this summer safe and fun! Save this post & remember these tips and share them with friends and family. Stay safe, stay informed, and enjoy Florida's beaches! 🌞 #FLBeaches #RealEstateAgent #TampaRealtor #TampeRealEstate #TonyBaroniTeam #TBTeam

Where Can You Have a Beach Bonfire in Florida? Most Florida beaches don't allow bonfires during the summer months due to the nesting season of sea turtles. However, there are a few exceptions where beach bonfires are permitted, but with strict regulations and fees. Here's a quick overview: Pinellas County: Fort De Soto Park is the only place where bonfires are allowed, but ground fires are prohibited. Campfires must be contained in a container with sides and a bottom. Walton County: You can have a bonfire on the beach (Gulf Front Property) for one night with a $50 permit. Flagler County: Beach fires are allowed, but you need a permit between May 1st and October 31st. Permits must be requested at least 3 days in advance. Martin County: Permits are available for beach fires during the non-turtle nesting season (November to February). Permits must be issued at least 48 hours before the scheduled fire time. Duval County: Beach fires are allowed in Atlantic Beach with a $25 permit, available from November to February. Neptune and Jacksonville beaches don't allow beach fires, and charcoal is prohibited on Neptune beach. Nassau County: Beach fires are prohibited from May 1st to October 31st due to sea turtle nesting season. Permits are required for fires between November 1st and April 30th. Remember: Always check local regulations and obtain necessary permits before building a beach bonfire in Florida.

8 kilometers. That thought rang in my mind, as I paddled against the tide back to my oyster encrusted boat ramp..the bow of my kayak cresting the wind chopped swells as I inch my way back to safety. My muscled burned, and I caught no fish. A donut. It could have been easier. I could have gone for a flathead, which are plentiful around this time of the year in Sydney Harbour. Maybe some of the small tailor (Bluefish, for you people Stateside). Way easier. But no, I have to want to have a go at a summer pelagic. Fish that travel thousands of kilometres up and down the east coast of Australia…known for their brute fighting power and their Fickle nature. Kingfish. Australian salmon. Mack Tuna. Albacore. Yellowfin . Bluefin and a whole host of others. They’re supposed to be here right now, but they aren’t. And if they are here..they could be at the spot today; Gone tomorrow. Foolhardy exercise. But I want to have a crack. Multiple mornings of launching at 04:30am in the dark . Thigh and arm burning kilometres in bone chilling darkness of a Spring that still resembled Winter. Straining eyes for a crash of seagulls, or patch of water literally exploding and showering in anchovies. Multiple Donuts now. Ten..twenty kilometre round trip fighting wind and current. Hours spent tossing big flies on heavy rods for a hope against the odds. On top of that..coming home, having a quick refresh and then going onto contract work and doing good work with clientele . I would have it no other way. People have asked me how did I stay persistent, especially a year long into a wildfire of a job market. Or dealing with difficult customers from different cultures, in different timezones. Or simply getting things done and smiling when I get misunderstood. Yup. Exactly. You should follow me on my fishing soujourn some time. (P.S., I may have caught no fish, but at least I got one of those weekend photographs that make people jealous) #lifelessons #fishing #saltwateronfly #professionaldevelopment #growth #jobsearch #keepthehope
