🌟 Our first day at the Single Vue Academy STREAM Camp was truly inspiring! The "Design an HBCU" mobile app project powered by MAD-learn had our Black and Brown scholars deeply engaged in computational thinking while celebrating the rich culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Here's a glimpse of the incredible experience: 1️⃣ Exploring HBCU History: Scholars delved into the rich history and significance of HBCUs, learning about their profound impact on Black culture and education. This foundation set the stage for our project, instilling pride and purpose. 2️⃣ Brainstorming App Ideas: Students collaborated to brainstorm unique features that reflect HBCU culture, such as virtual campus tours showcasing historical landmarks and student life. This creative process ignited their passion for design thinking. 3️⃣ Planning the App: Scholars mapped out their ideas, outlining the app's key components and functionalities. This phase fostered critical thinking and teamwork, essential skills in computational thinking. ✨ Witnessing our students embrace technology and heritage simultaneously was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. We are nurturing the next generation of tech innovators who are rooted in their cultural identity. 🚀 Parents and educators, let’s keep this momentum going! Share your thoughts and ideas on how we can continue to support and inspire our Black and Brown scholars in STEM. ✨ SheSharp’s scholarship season is here! ✨ Our scholarships create more equal opportunities for those ambitious about developing the skills to advance their careers in Tech. Education is expensive (it goes beyond the cost of courses!) and sadly financial barriers stop many attaining it, despite aptitude and interest - scholarships are a crucial tool for cultivating diversity in technology. 💡Why does this matter? Because when we support diverse talent, it’s not just about them —we transform the tech industry. Diverse teams drive innovation, growth, and better solutions for everyone. 🌱 Know someone* ready to break down those barriers? Tag them and encourage them to apply! 🎯 We are entirely volunteer run, and rely on donations to fund our scholarships. We would love to do more. To support, please consider donating or partner with us (link in comments). *individuals who identify as non-binary or women are eligible

This #BlackHistoryMonth, we’re taking a deep dive into achieving equity in STEM and specifically addressing the inclusion of young Black girls in computer science education. Knowing how to code is crucial to get into computer science, but to ensure that students from underrepresented backgrounds not only get into the field but also thrive in it, we need to focus on three other things besides coding skills. These include the breadth of our social networks, the strength of our support systems, and the availability of mentorship opportunities, all of which contribute significantly to students’ success in their computer science education. #ComputerScience #STEMequity Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/esQv-fCT
