“‘Back to the Future’ is such an appropriate topic for where so many leaders find themselves nowadays” was a comment made during the recent breakfast session in Cape Town where, as a result of the interactive engagement of our audience and panel we concluded a morning of meaningful discussion around current challenges in operations and the supply chain, and together enabled learnings for one another.💡 Some of the learnings that were highlighted during these discussions were: - Leaders need to have clarity of the complete value chain and their specific role in achieving it’s objectives, otherwise additional data can create more complexity. - ROI needs to be clear (especially at management level) when investing in technology - The correct basic practices must be in place, for technology / data to create true value - It’s very important for leaders to be able to prioritise effectively in this current world of massive amounts of data & information. Data means little without the relevant “insights” to what it means, and how it can translate into the correct actions. - Leaders need to remain “Future Fit” to “reduce variability”, which is what leaders effectively are responsible for (one of many!) - The future cannot only include technology, but needs to still incorporate people development, capability and the right leadership capabilities - “Operational & Supply Chain Excellence = CI + CE” ((CI) Continuous Improvement + (CE) Conducive Environment). Leaders must create an environment which enables CI to succeed (TRACC will help with this) to ensure people grow with technology. Thank you to DataProphet for creating clarity around their approach to Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, enabling companies to gain performance improvements through a combined approach of operational excellence and the effective use of data analytics. And thank you once again to our speakers for their time and knowledge shared: Cecil Everson (Heineken), Evan Springfield (Peninsula Beverages {Coca Cola}), Hilton Mentor (Aspen Pharmacare) and Dr Dino Petrarolo (CCI-GrowthCon). We look forward to unpacking more questions around this topic at our next Table Talk! Please send an email to bookings@cci-g.com if you would like to receive notification of these events. 🤝 #BreakfastEvent #CCIGrowthCon #BacktotheFuture #Gratitude #TableTalk #OperationalExcellence

Last week we hosted ‘Innovate & Elevate’, an in-person event in Leeds as part of The Campaign for Real Innovation. With special FMCG guest speakers, Ben Diamant, Liga Magdalenoka-Keen and Karen Schofield and wonderfully moderated by Richard Heath, the event captured how we can foster a culture to drive innovation. Here are some of the key takeaways from the event: 🌟 Innovation starts with investing in the right people: Bringing in a mix of experienced and fresh talent, providing proper coaching, and giving team members the space to thrive can transform a company’s innovation culture. 🤝 Fostering a culture of trust and innovation is essential: Encouraging creativity, allowing for failure, and rewarding innovative thinking helps build an environment where new ideas can flourish. 🔧 Utilising the right tools and processes enhances innovation: Employing both qualitative and quantitative research, iterative testing, and data analytics ensures that innovative ideas are effectively nurtured and realised. 📚 Embracing failure as a learning opportunity drives growth: Viewing failures as teachable moments transforms setbacks into opportunities for growth, fostering resilience and continuous improvement. Watch out for more content from the event - coming soon! In the meantime, if you would like to talk to us, don't hesitate to reach out, we'd love to hear from you. #Innovation #Culture #Leadership #BusinessGrowth #InnovateElevate #BlueYonder

The highlight of last week was joining a panel of experts* at the Consumer Brands Association's CEO Summit in which we explored the differing (and sometimes conflicting) imperatives of sustainability & supply chain management. The panel was followed by three workshops that looked in more detail at ways in which companies can achieve sustainability, reduce risk and increase supply chain efficiency with a focus on technology, data and analytics as enablers. A few of the many takeaways: - examples of reducing power and water consumption go straight to the goals of reducing impact as well as reducing cost and there is almost always procedural improvement opportunities before capital is deployed to improve systems. - an example of how technology can lower emissions and cost and drive supply chain efficiency is the use of predictive analytics to use refrigerated transportation [only] when necessary. - a patchwork of expanding local, national and international regulations are challenging to meet but, where a strategic approach is being taken, companies are finding opportunities to reduce risk and improve visibility/transparency through the data being collected. It was also fantastic to meet many CPG executives during the conference and hear about their concerns and successes. Supply chain risk was part of almost every conversation, particularly how to better embed risk analytics in corporate and supply chain decision-making and where companies can collaborate in a 'pre-competitive' manner to accelerate this. A big thank you to Thomas Madrecki at CBA and Robert Holston and the team at EY for leading a thoughtful and well-organized event. * As I say, deep expertise on the panel which included: Sameer Anand, Lisa Hartkopf and Ashutosh Dekhne of EY, David Correll from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Sarah Edwards, of Eunomia Research & Consulting, Amanda Hodges, of Republic Services and Rajen Raval of Microsoft. #CPGsummit #consumerbrands #supplychain #supplychainrisk #supplychainresilience #sustainability Jessica Mackey Mario Grande Knut Alicke, Daniel Stanton, Brian Laung Aoaeh, CFA, Radu Palamariu, Rushit Shah, Benjamin Gordon, Stan Aronow, Joe Carson, Greg Schlegel CPIM, CSP, Jonah, Alan Amling, Dr. Karsten Machholz, Jason Miller, Marc Dragon, Dave Food, Prof. Dr. Larry Wigger, Matt Loach, Pam Simon, Rob Handfield, Ted Stank, Ravi Heerwani, Matt Algar, Kevin O'Meara, Glenn A. The 2nd ASCM Toronto Chapter Book Club event was held earlier this week. Deborah Dull and Douglas Kent engaged our group with an overview of the inspiration and contents of Sustainable Supply Chain Orchestration. The authors shared the UNLEARN concept especially how important Supply Chain leaders are in the conversation for sustainability. How we need to demystify the application of frameworks to stretch our thinking and expand beyond the historical supply chain limits. And to recognize this is a win for the balance sheet and for the world when you are successful. And you can be successful even if EVOLVE is part of your journey meaning sometimes you will fail, but that is part of optimization. Finally to think BIG PICTURE, not functional but total. We can do more together. At a recent Circular supply chain workshop Douglas shared the need to focus on how to create a shared language and make sure you have the skillset to feel equipped. ASCM has a lot of great tools and how to include Sustainability and Circular into the strategic and operational discussions. You'll see more from our chapter on Sustainability in 2025 to continue this important conversation.

🌟 Hey there, fellow innovators! 🌟 Just dropping by to share some exciting updates from my recent adventures in Edinburgh at the 17th Global Brand Conference! 🌍✨ During the conference, I had the incredible opportunity to join a panel discussion on the importance of acting in good conscience and how it directly correlates with fostering successful business practices. It was truly inspiring to see how aligning our values with our actions can lead to both ethical and profitable outcomes. 🤝💼 But that's not all! 🚀 I'm thrilled to announce that I've contributed to the recently launched book, "Creativity for a Sustainable Future." Published by MINDSHAKE PT and with contributions from my dear business friends Daniela Marzavan and Mark Stinson, amongst others.📘🌱 It's a project close to my heart, emphasizing creativity's crucial role in building a better, more sustainable world. 💡♻️ And here's where the real magic happens! 🎩✨ Alongside my amazing colleagues at the Medinge Group, a dynamic think tank dedicated to inspiring leaders to create conscientious organizations and brands, we organized a special event. Together with Scottish leaders in finance, champions of local quality brands, and influential figures in public roles, we dove deep into discussions on leading with integrity and conscience. 🏴🌟 My aim? To pave the way for a future where businesses and brands prioritize ethics and sustainability, ensuring our world remains habitable and thriving. Today back at the Innoboost office, to make change happen.🌍💪 Let's continue to come together, ignite change, and shape a future we can all be proud of. 💚🌟 Cheers to conscience-driven leadership and a brighter tomorrow! 🥂✨ #ConsciousLeadership #Sustainability #Innovation #circulareconomy #profittobeproudof #ingoodconscience #brandswithaconscience
