The death of HARO: A wake-up call for Digital PR (...and why spammy link builders are ruining everything): HARO (Help A Reporter Out) is shutting down, today, December 9th. This platform was once a goldmine for Digital PR and SEO'ers 𝗕𝘂𝘁 - spammy link builders killed it. Here's what happened: 1️⃣ HARO connected journalists with expert sources 2️⃣ It was great for getting an intro, building relationships and earning backlinks 3️⃣ Towards the end of 2022, AI Generated responses flooded the platform 4️⃣ Journalists' inboxes were overwhelmed with poor-quality content 5️⃣ HARO tried rebranding and a paywall, but the damage was done The lesson? Real Digital PR is more crucial than ever. Too many "𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗥 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀" are just glorified link building schemes. They're killing valuable platforms like HARO. And they're damaging the entire industry. Want to succeed in Digital PR? Focus on building genuine relationships. Provide thoughtful, original insights. Prioritise quality over quantity. Remember: 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗰𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀. The death of HARO is a warning. Let's learn from it.

No, I don’t want a link from New York Times Said no one ever… We all want backlinks from the New York Times, the Guardian, and other big media brands. And we all know Digital PR is a way to get these links. The problem? Everyone and their mother is doing this. Making it hard as hell. I mean, who can compete with Fery and the team he’s built over there?? Based on Q1 2024 numbers, only 3.15% of PR pitches got a response of any kind. Only 45.3% of pitches were even opened by journalists at all. Out the gate, you have less than a coin flip’s chance of even having your pitch read. It’s no wonder Digital PR agencies charge more than $5,000 per campaign. But there’s another way. A way to get journalists to find your content and link to it. Without having to pitch them. Journalists write, on average, one to six stories per day. That’s between 365 - 2,190 stories per year. And that’s just one journalist. Most media outlets have hundreds of journalists. The New York Times alone has 1,700. That’s a lot of stories! While writing these stories, journalists turn to Google to find data, sources, and information to cite. That’s where you come in. Creating content that naturally attracts backlinks is a cheat code. And it’s what I’m obsessed with. In a few days I’m opening the doors again to my Lazy Link Building group coaching. During the program I teach you exactly how to create content that naturally picks up backlinks from the world’s top publications. I walk you through every step of the process. From research, to creation, to optimization. If your website could benefit from a New York Times backlink, just comment “lazy” down below. And I’ll let you know later this week when the doors open.

I stole the top Digital PR agency's SOPs on how they land DR 90+ links Every single hack, tip & process And you know what SEO friends I did it for you ❤️ 3 months ago I tricked Fery into hiring me... Why? For the last 2+ years all we’ve seen on the feed is: - Fery landing links in Bloomberg - Fery skyrocketing traffic - Fery pizza Thursdays 🍕 So I had to find out exactly how he did it. I applied for his PR role, passed the interview stage, and learned everything he does 🕵️ In today’s post, I reveal exactly how he gets National Press mentions with Digital PR (and how you can do it yourself) 1. Use datasets to create exciting stories Find an interesting dataset that can be linked to your product. It could be car sales volumes, happiness indexes, finance stats, salary information, etc. 2. Write a compelling press release Use the data to write a high quality press release. Find a unique angle that will interest journalists. Remember, you want to write a press release that helps journalists rack in the views. 3. Find relevant journalists Leverage tools like MuckRack & Roxhill - they have amazing databases. Find journalists who’ve previously written about the target industry. Gather their contact information. 4. Pitch journalists Send a personalized email with the press release. Use a strong hook and catchy headline. Convince them that this is worth featuring and be persistent. 5. Watch the links come in If you’ve got a great story. And you’ve contacted the right journalists. It’s not uncommon to hit 10+ links in a single campaign. Or… You can hit up the man himself. And boost your site with powerful PR links!

🚨 Digital PR Tip 🚨 How to continue building links when more and more media outlets refuse to add links into articles 👇 I've been in digital PR for over 10 years, and I've seen it all—especially the tricky times when press mentions don't link back to us. Here's a straightforward guide on how to get through this: 1️⃣ Get creative with what you share: Think outside the box. Create unique campaigns that stand out. Make something so good that people can't help but share and link to it. It's about getting noticed and remembered. 2️⃣ Make friends with journalists: It's all about who you know. Don't just reach out to journalists when you need something. Share their work and try and build relationships. If you've got a good relationship, you can always ask politely for a link back to your site. Sometimes, they just need a little nudge. 3️⃣ Use social media wisely: Follow and engage with journalists on social! You will often see them asking of quotes or help with an article and this can be a great way to build links and relationships. 4️⃣ Keep an eye out and ask nicely: Tools are available to help you find out who's mentioning you but not linking to you. When you spot these mentions, just reach out and kindly ask if they can add a link (if relevant and appropriate) In short: It's not just about spreading news; it's about building lasting relationships, being creatively bold, and always being ready to engage. Overcoming the hurdle of non-linking press is 100% achievable. #DigitalPR #BeCreative #BuildRelationships

🚨 Trigger Warning: For those sensitive about link building 😂 Some Digital PR professionals are in denial about their main goal: securing links. While secondary metrics can have some importance, clients are primarily concerned with the links. A recent Google leak reaffirms the significance of links. That's why we collaborate closely with SEO teams to ensure success. With over 5 years of industry experience, I deeply understand how journalists operate and how the news cycle functions. If securing links isn't your focus, you're essentially doing traditional PR, avoiding the label of link builder while still engaging in link building. #linkbuilding #PR

Four years ago I promised that I will make Digital PR available to the masses. This week, we made it happen. There are 3 more hours left to get Digital PR at £700 per month. For this price, we’ll get you at least 5 PR links every three months. Any company can now start earning digital PR links from just £700 per month. Any SEO agency can now start reselling Digital PR to their clients at affordable monthly prices. In three hours, at 00:00 UK time, this price goes to £900 per month, which is still a pretty good price, right? 🙂 For this starting price, we’ll create multiple data, reactive and expert commentary stories that we’ll pitch to US and UK news publications and real journalists. And we’ll keep on pitching until we get you at least 5 PR links every three months. 100% white hat, ethical links that you and the clients can be proud of.
