Exciting Learning Experience at the SPARC Workshop on Smart EV Charging Solutions! I had the privilege of participating in a one-week workshop titled "Algorithmic Game Theory and Optimization for Smart EV Charging Solutions" from September 23-29, 2024, under the prestigious SPARC project at ABV-Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Gwalior. The sessions covered cutting-edge topics like noncooperative game theory, evolutionary algorithms, and optimization techniques for EV charging, led by esteemed faculty, including Prof. Sajal K. Das from Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA. A special thanks to all the faculty members and organizers for an enriching experience! Dear AICTE and IIT Directors, I am writing to express my concerns regarding the Indian Science Technology and Engineering Facilities Map (I-STEM) portal. This initiative was launched by the government to provide access to research facilities across various institutes, including IITs and other institutions. Unfortunately, it appears that the portal is not functioning as intended. Many registered institutes have not updated critical information such as costs and available slots. Although some institutes might respond to queries, the overall experience suggests that the portal is not effectively serving its purpose. This situation is particularly frustrating for the research community, as the portal was established to facilitate access to important facilities. I am seeking clarification on whether there is any IIT professor or institution responsible for maintaining the I-STEM system. Specifically, I would like to know what actions have been taken by AICTE and the Directors of IITs to address these issues. Additionally, I am in need of several instruments, including FESEM, EDS, EBSD, 3D Profilometer, XPS, and AFM. Can these facilities be accessed through the I-STEM portal? If not, what alternative methods are available to obtain these resources? I would appreciate any comments or solutions regarding these concerns. It is crucial that the portal be monitored and maintained effectively to support the research community across India. 🙈 🙉 🙊 . While other frequency bands are already implemented, there are many challenges to implement the millimeter wave band and its enormous potential to customers. This talk will address some of the practical issues of what millimeter wave can provide and yet what are the limitations in terms of design, deployment and operations. This requires a closer look at the Radio Access Network and how to implement a millimeter wave band in public networks. Its design, and how it will coexist with the other frequency spectrum in a cellular system are important. Since 5G and 6G have started to take over the vertical market segments including factory operations network, it is changing many aspects from traditional wired systems. There is considerable expectation that wireless will deliver throughput of several Gbps and in addition reduce the latency (from 100ms of current Internet to 10ms or less in 5G / 6G wireless networks). To address increased throughput and reduced latency expectations, several design parameters must be evaluated. Some of these examples will be illustrated. In addition to cellular, the public safety network (Police, Fire, EMS, rail and bus operations etc.) have moved over to cellular system and have different requirements. Their requirements are being addressed by 3GPP starting with 4G LTE and now in 5G and 6G and its global impact in emergency communication will be touched upon. Cellular systems bring about higher level of security compared to the current Internet, because security implementation begin at the RAN and move up to higher layers.
