Dear All, The IEEE MTT-S Student Branch Chapter, IIT Kanpur in association with the IEEE MTT-S Uttar Pradesh Section Chapter, is pleased to announce an invited talk by Dr. Krishnamurthy Raghunandan, Senior Manager in MTA / New York City Transit. Title: 5G / 6G RAN Millimeter Wave Initiatives Date: September 10, 2024 (Tuesday) Timings: 18:30 IST Venue: Online Platform All interested are requested to register for the event using the link given below. https://lnkd.in/e_vkNedN Abstract: 5G cellular brought about a change in society leading to wireless becoming the primary access to the Internet and business services. While other frequency bands are already implemented, there are many challenges to implement the millimeter wave band and its enormous potential to customers. This talk will address some of the practical issues of what millimeter wave can provide and yet what are the limitations in terms of design, deployment and operations. This requires a closer look at the Radio Access Network and how to implement a millimeter wave band in public networks. Its design, and how it will coexist with the other frequency spectrum in a cellular system are important. Since 5G and 6G have started to take over the vertical market segments including factory operations network, it is changing many aspects from traditional wired systems. There is considerable expectation that wireless will deliver throughput of several Gbps and in addition reduce the latency (from 100ms of current Internet to 10ms or less in 5G / 6G wireless networks). To address increased throughput and reduced latency expectations, several design parameters must be evaluated. Some of these examples will be illustrated. In addition to cellular, the public safety network (Police, Fire, EMS, rail and bus operations etc.) have moved over to cellular system and have different requirements. Their requirements are being addressed by 3GPP starting with 4G LTE and now in 5G and 6G and its global impact in emergency communication will be touched upon. Cellular systems bring about higher level of security compared to the current Internet, because security implementation begin at the RAN and move up to higher layers. This will be briefly touched upon. Looking forward to your participation! Warm Regards IEEE MTT-S SBC IITK Prakrati Azad Sudeb Bhattacharya Sylvie Rana Aakash . Anshuman Choudhary

Research productization is a strategic initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application, transforming innovative solutions from academic institutions into commercially viable technology products. At NCoE, we have been taking small but steady steps to connect research with real-world solutions. Although progress has been made, we do recognize that there is still a long road ahead. We are excited to share our learnings and milestones as we continue this journey. Follow along as we delve into how research productization works, explore its benefits for all stakeholders, and understand the strategic processes that go on behind the scenes. 👀 Why a session on skill shortage at our upcoming Workshop "𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑵𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 & 𝑭𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔: 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒔"? 📌 The first day of the workshop (May 13-14th) in Athens will dedicate a session on this topic: you will be able to have a comprehensive overview of what is at stake here. The share of students choosing ICT and notably semiconductors disciplines is too low to satisfy the demand required by the labour market. In many countries, including #Europe, the production of STEM graduates will not be sufficient in the next decade if we don’t have an ambitious strategy. The shortage of potential employees with specific knowledge in #semiconductors, and in particular the negligible share of students willing to undertake this field, has many different causes.y 👊 We will tackle this question and discuss of the possible solutions or paths to finding solutions with the European Chips Skills Academy, the ALLPROS.eu Thematic Working Group on Skills, an example of the Fraunhofer IISB concept dedicated to rethinking Education and Training for nowadays semiconductor manufacturing, the #IEEE initiative in line with international cooperation and the SINANO Institute academy. You can register following the link and attend for FREE to the workshop: https://lnkd.in/eUEfUy3N Patrick COGEZ - AENEAS Association, Léo Saint-Martin - DECISION Etudes & Conseil, Leonardo Bulgarelli Freitas - ALLPROS.eu, IEEE, Sabrina A. - Fraunhofer IIS, Giorgos Fagas - SINANO Institute - Tyndall National Institute

Dr. Sonal Singhal, Associate Professor in the School of Engineering, is working to mitigate circuit ageing. In line with Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR's vision of collaborative research, the work is being conducted with the University of Michigan, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Joint Institute Shanghai, and BITS Pilani. The collaborations hold importance as they involve shared resources. “Circuits designed at advanced technology node are prone to device degradation. Bias Temperature Instability (BTI) is the most common device degradation mechanism in Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). At advanced technology nodes, besides time-zero process variability, time-dependent process variability is a dominant degradation mechanism. Ensuring the lifetime reliability of advanced computing systems such as SRAM-based In-Memory Computing (IMC) is of paramount importance,” says Dr. Singhal.
