Is coaching complicated? • A question I'm often asked when I tell people I'm a leadership and performance coach • The answer is that most behavioural change concepts are incredibly simple • The complexity is in the execution. • Coaching provides the tools, support, and perspective to bridge the gap between knowing and doing. • The real challenge lies in taking consistent action, breaking old habits, and staying accountable—even when it feels uncomfortable.

Leaders: The Key to Effective Coaching The best coaching happens when you take the time to observe your team in action. First-hand observation gives you the insight needed to coach for skill development, improve performance, and address limiting behaviors. But what if you can’t observe directly? In those cases, guide your team members through a debrief. Help them reflect on the task by asking: • What went well? • What could have been better? • How can you apply these insights moving forward? Coaching is most effective when it's built on clarity and reflection, whether observing or debriefing.

A recent client told me that they read that wanting to be coached is more important than having a coach. As a result, I discovered this article about how to know if you're ready to be coached. There is a lot of good advice and direction in this HBR article if you're thinking about offering coaching to your employees, or you're considering working with a coach yourself. #leadershipcoaching #leadershipcoach #coachingleaders #coaching #leadershipandrisk #leadershipdevelopment #courageousleadership https://lnkd.in/gZVBVM_U

We invest in executive coaches often and generously. We pay attention to ‘fit’. How often to we give real space for the question and the honest answer of whether someone really wants and is ready to be coached? Think about it. Your manager approaches you and says ‘we are excited about your future’ or ‘your going places if we work on one or two things’, can you really say no thank you whether you are ready to be coached or not?

Coaching skills are essential to influencing meaningful change in your organisation because they allow you to bring out the best in your team by encouraging their growth and development. During our Coaching Skills For Leaders course you will explore the OSCAR coaching model. This will help you understand what a 'good' coaching conversation looks like and you will have the opportunity to practice applying it to a real life work challenge with your peers in your live classroom. This is a structured framework used to guide individuals through the process of personal or professional growth. It consists of five key steps: 1. Outcome: Define the clear, specific goal or result the coachee wants to achieve. 2. Situation: Assess the coachees current situation to understand where they stand in relation to their goal. 3. Choices: Explore the different options available to the coachee. 4. Action: Develop a concrete action plan. 5. Review: Regularly reflect on progress, learning from both successes and setbacks. If you're someone who holds a leadership position, you've likely heard about professional coaching. But maybe you've been hesitant to try coaching with those you lead simply because you may not feel confident in your skills to coach others. Coaching is a conversation to support colleagues to become more self-aware and effective. It is a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. It's not just about setting goals, but about understanding why they are important and finding the most effective path to achieve them. Whether it's personal or professional objectives, coaching can help those you lead gain clarity and overcome the barriers that stand in their way. Many of their barriers to accomplish their goals are not external. They are internal—having to do with their limiting beliefs, emotions, and fears. As their leader, you can provide them a safe space to explore their internal barriers through coaching. Together, you can discover what is needed to empower them to break through and reach their fullest potential. So, now that you have a better understanding of what coaching is, perhaps it's time to empower your team to face their internal barriers and accomplish what truly matters. For more information about developing your coaching skills as a leader, reach out to [email protected]. P.S. My Level One, ICF-accredited program, Professional Coaching Certification, starts August 1st (20 weekly sessions). You don't want to miss this one! Why does coaching matter? Respondents whose organizations had strong coaching cultures reported that 61 percent of their employees are highly engaged, compared to 53 percent from organizations without strong coaching cultures. What are your thoughts on this? And what are you currently doing to build coaching skills in your leaders? I'd like to know. And if you look at this think oh my, I don't have a strategy on this and want support - let's chat. Book a FREE strategy call with me and my team. Our four-step Coaching framework works - it is simple and structured. It teaches leaders how to have a 3-minute coaching conversation. Coaching does not have to take an hour, it's about understanding how to coach, using a proven framework, and then simply practicing. https://lnkd.in/ewfH244c
