Coaching skills are essential to influencing meaningful change in your organisation because they allow you to bring out the best in your team by encouraging their growth and development. During our Coaching Skills For Leaders course you will explore the OSCAR coaching model. This will help you understand what a 'good' coaching conversation looks like and you will have the opportunity to practice applying it to a real life work challenge with your peers in your live classroom. This is a structured framework used to guide individuals through the process of personal or professional growth. It consists of five key steps: 1. Outcome: Define the clear, specific goal or result the coachee wants to achieve. 2. Situation: Assess the coachees current situation to understand where they stand in relation to their goal. 3. Choices: Explore the different options available to the coachee. 4. Action: Develop a concrete action plan. 5. Review: Regularly reflect on progress, learning from both successes and setbacks. The Goal of Coaching is Self-leadership I am currently participating in a transformative learning experience, Coaching with IFS, powerfully led by Guthrie Sayen and Barti Bourgault, MA, PCC, CMT-P. The programme is about discovering how to model and foster Self-leadership to create a culture of healing and awakening. The primary purpose of the programme is to support participants to heal and wake to our true nature in order to better support others to heal and wake up to their true nature. The secondary purpose is to develop our individual capability to work with and use Internal Family Systems (IFS, aka Parts work) to support our clients. This is a fascinating inversion. Typically knowledge and skills are the primary focus of development, and if you are lucky, you get an outcome or benefit beyond this. Here, transformation is the goal and the knowledge and skills just come along with that. The concept of Self-leadership is central to this. I have long held that leadership is an inside-out movement. The idea of Self-leadership is that we are led by Self: the essence which is always there, sometimes obscured, but always alive with warmth, light and life. It is our core and our seat of awareness. Self is characterised by: Compassion, Creativity, Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, Calm, Connectedness, and Clarity. The goal of all coaching is Self-leadership: to live deeply connected to yourself and responding, not reacting, to the world around you, in service of your purpose in the world. What would it be like for you to work with a coach who is more deeply connected to Self and brings these qualities to their coaching? What would it be like to be a leader who is more fully connected to Self and brings these qualities of confidence, calm, and courage into their organisation and the world? I’d love to have a conversation with you about how I might support you on your leadership journey back to Self. #chooseleadership #leadershipcoaching #leadershipdevelopment #ifs #partswork #selfleadership

🚫Reasons not to get a coach🚫 Coaching can be transformative, but it's not always the right time or the right option for everyone. Here are some things to think about... ☁ You think it's all about the "fluffy" stuff: If you think coaching is just "fluffy" talk without substantial results, you might be limiting where and how it can have impact. Defining goals and ROI for your coaching is crucial. ↔ You have a self-awareness gap: Without a basic level of self-awareness, you might struggle to benefit from coaching insights and feedback. Explore your strengths, blind spots and be honest with yourself what you really want to work on. 💸 You don't have the time/money: If you're unwilling to invest the necessary time and money, coaching might not yield the desired outcomes. Coaching can be about changing longstanding habits and this takes effort. ❌ You think it can replace poor management: Engaging a coach to deliver your feedback to your team can be a sign you need to develop this skill independently rather than relying on someone else. Coaching that works hand in glove with your management approach can have a greater impact. Coaching is a powerful tool, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. Taking time to think about why you might want a coach in the first place can help you identify who would be a best fit for you. #PersonalDevelopment #Coaching #SelfImprovement #CareerGrowth #Leadership #BusinessPerformance

Defining goals in coaching enhances impact by providing clarity and direction, ensuring both coach and client are aligned towards specific, measurable outcomes. This alignment facilitates focused efforts, better tracking of progress, and more meaningful adjustments throughout the coaching process, ultimately leading to more significant personal and professional growth. #management #ceo #leadership #marketing #humnaresources #director

When coaching skills are mandatory…now there’s a thought. Today I’ve been at Affinity Water for another of our Coach Approach workshops, as part of a long term development programme. It’s mandatory for all leaders, managers and graduates… in fact, adopting a coach approach is an expected way of being…. what a breath of fresh air that is. I often say ‘to act like a coach, we need to think like a coach’. No wonder the ‘Coach Approach’ includes how to develop a coach mindset as well as the essential skills needed to have a coaching conversation. Throughout the day, the key questions that are consistently asked are “how can this approach be beneficial to you in your role?” And “what will you now do differently?” When a coach approach is used by more and more people, and more people feel listened to, valued and heard, then a coaching culture is beginning to develop. It was said today, and will be said again… A coaching culture is a place where authentic leaders and managers help people to grow, thrive and perform through effective conversations, honest feedback, underpinned by trust. And who wouldn’t want that? Thank you Tim Roberts for a great workshop. #coachingculture

(Inquisitive voice) Are you trying to tell me…that investing in your people and building them up is worth it??? Are you telling me it’s possible to get a real ROI, that may NOT show up on your balance sheet? Invest. In. Your. People. Coach them. Make a difference. It costs you the same amount of effort to be kind and uplifting as it does to be the opposite.

Why does coaching matter? Respondents whose organizations had strong coaching cultures reported that 61 percent of their employees are highly engaged, compared to 53 percent from organizations without strong coaching cultures. What are your thoughts on this? And what are you currently doing to build coaching skills in your leaders? I'd like to know. And if you look at this think oh my, I don't have a strategy on this and want support - let's chat. Book a FREE strategy call with me and my team. Our four-step Coaching framework works - it is simple and structured. It teaches leaders how to have a 3-minute coaching conversation. Coaching does not have to take an hour, it's about understanding how to coach, using a proven framework, and then simply practicing. https://lnkd.in/ewfH244c

Manager As A Coach ! I don’t think I could take seriously both above mentioned saying and those who are saying it repeatedly! Firstly, I shall make it clear, with two books published on the subject and around decades of practice, I easily consider myself as a big fan (not of the sort you see in a wind farm😁) of coaching, however, no need to argue, coaching process is such a complicated sometimes long set of tasks, that a manager won’t be able to go through it throughly! So I can allow myself to humbly claim, “those who consider manager as a coach, neither have managed nor have coached”. 😊 Simply could be calculated how much time a typical manager with a subordinate group of 12 is able to allocate to a rapid coaching session for each, let alone standard coaching session! Certainly not more than 24.7 ! Probably, people, especially, those friends and colleagues of mine who know “promoting coaching practice” has been defined as my work mission, will wander how managers will benefit from great advantages of coaching notion in their work context. Good news is that, they don’t have to resign and sit as a coach but their crucial job, I doubt most of them could be able to do, is “shifting to a coaching mindset”. A bell a cat job, that won’t be accomplished simply by some coaching skills trainings! Far much more than that ! 😊 #managerasacoach #coachingskills #coaching #executivecoaching #leadership
