GROW: The gateway coaching model Are you a leader looking to dip your toes into coaching? The first and probably the simplest coaching model I tried that got me hooked on coaching was the GROW model. If you’re not familiar with it, it only takes a few minutes to learn and you will have a very powerful coaching model you can apply to almost any conversation that requires coaching. ❔ What is the GROW model? Created by Sir John Whitmore, the GROW coaching model is a simple framework that can help you coach someone to set and achieve their goals. The acronym stands for: Goal, Reality, Options, and Will. ⭐Goal: What goal are you trying to achieve? ⭐Reality: Take a step back. What is the current situation in relation to that goal? ⭐Options: What are the various potential actions to achieve that goal? ⭐Will: What are you going to commit to meet your goal? GROW works best when used with other coaching principles such as active listening, maintaining presence, and having a coaching mindset. If it's your first time trying a coaching model and you find that it works for you and those around you, I hope it's the first of many coaching models you explore. The world could use more coaching skills! Putting it into practice: 🙋♀️For people leaders: during your very next 1:1 with a direct report or peer, consider using this framework to help them talk through a challenge they are having. 🤔For self-coaching: what challenge is top of mind for you today? For this challenge, write down your ultimate Goal, the Reality and facts of the situation, all of the Options for actions you could take, and the next steps you are Willing to commit to in addressing the challenge. #Leadership #coachingskills #careerdevelopment #careertransition

It was a pleasure and joy in being able to share and express my views on coaching and in particular organisational coaching in which I practice. Becoming a #coach was a conscious career choice, it was a solid stepping stone into working with teenagers as the longer term goal. However, the journey has led me down the path of coaching not only #executives but #teams, #youngprofessionals and individuals. And with that the exposure to dealing with #hrdirectors, #learninganddevelopment and the complex political, technology and business focused environment of #work across so many industries; and stretch beyond my familiar domain of #banking. In the already saturated world of coaches, how does one start, get ahead and thrive as an organisational coach? and how do clients separate the wheat from the chaff? In this exchange with Luba Diasamidze PhD, ICF PCC I give my personal account as an accredited coach with over 1500 coaching hours 💪🏽

In a tough market, coaching should be a number one priority 🥇 Yet, the survey by MySalesCoach revealed a shocking statistic. Only one in twelve reps are feeling fulfilled in their role. From a coaching perspective, managers and their teams aren’t on the same page. Shabri Lakhani says: “There’s a big disconnect between the coaching reps want and the coaching managers do.” “Part of that is frequency and quality. One of the biggest mistakes I see is that coaching is shoehorned into a 1-2-1. And a part of that is because managers aren’t aware of how to coach effectively.” What do you think is key to effective coaching? Let us know in the comments 👇

Is coaching complicated? • A question I'm often asked when I tell people I'm a leadership and performance coach • The answer is that most behavioural change concepts are incredibly simple • The complexity is in the execution. • Coaching provides the tools, support, and perspective to bridge the gap between knowing and doing. • The real challenge lies in taking consistent action, breaking old habits, and staying accountable—even when it feels uncomfortable.

(Inquisitive voice) Are you trying to tell me…that investing in your people and building them up is worth it??? Are you telling me it’s possible to get a real ROI, that may NOT show up on your balance sheet? Invest. In. Your. People. Coach them. Make a difference. It costs you the same amount of effort to be kind and uplifting as it does to be the opposite.
