Apprentices have become key to the growth of our business. Here's Ollie learning air conditioning skills on a light commercial vehicle, closely trained by Simon, our lead technician. In 2021/22, just after COVID, we calculated missing out on over £1m in lost revenue due to the lack of good quality technicians available. This impact led us to take action and introduce a new apprenticeship scheme to avoid such losses in the future, a story familiar to many businesses during this period. Becoming local school enterprise ambassadors, we met with potential candidates, resulting in a successful apprenticeship program. We now have 4 apprentices at varying learning stages, along with work experience students joining us virtually every week, enriching their understanding of the #automotiveindustry. Failure to provide opportunities to young talents can lead to severe employment issues, affecting the knowledge base, productivity, and our country's global reputation. #seizethemoment #apprentices #essexbusiness #workexperience #automotivecareer

🚗 Exciting News in the Automotive Industry! 🛠️ The Motor Trade Association (MTA) to the South Australian Skills Commission has been approved to offer dual trade apprenticeships, a groundbreaking initiative in Australia! 🌟 🔧 The first of its kind in the country, this program combines either a light or heavy vehicle apprenticeship with an automotive electrical apprenticeship, providing a comprehensive skill set for aspiring professionals. 🌱 With over 20% of new car sales in South Australia being zero and low emission vehicles, including hybrids and electric vehicles, the need for skilled workforce preparation is more crucial than ever. Examples of Successful Hybrid apprenticeship Programs Several successful hybrid apprenticeship programs have been implemented across the United States. For instance, the BMW Rising Scholars program allows high school seniors to work part-time at BMW Manufacturing while attending school. develop career-ready skills in advanced manufacturing through a combination of paid on-the-job training and college-level classroom instruction. Other examples include Siemens, which leverages its apprenticeship program to develop talent for roles in advanced manufacturing and engineering, recently launched an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Registered Apprenticeship program at its manufacturing hub in North Carolina, Yellow Corporation committed to developing new dockworker and truck mechanic Registered Apprenticeship programs and launching initiatives to determine ways its Registered Apprenticeship Driving Academies can introduce more women and people of color to truck driving careers. This builds on their establishment of 20 Registered Apprenticeship Driving Academies over the past two years, in partnership with Teamsters, and their commitment to hire 1,000 truck driver apprentices.
