Helping #ukmfg to run winning Apprenticeship Schemes via benchmarking, best practice sharing & an Employer Accreditation
About us
Next Gen Makers recognises the best employers in the UK for engineering apprenticeships with the Engineering Apprenticeships: Employer Accreditation - and helps any company to get there. A community led initiative, member companies engage in benchmarking and best practice sharing to run successful Apprenticeship Schemes which better attract and retain young talent, whilst shining a light on the best employers to inspire and connect the next generation. Through our Engineering Apprenticeships: Best Practice Programme, our goal is to enable engineering & manufacturing firms of all sizes to deliver the best possible apprentice experience whilst becoming great at attracting and retaining skilled apprentice talent. In collaboration with our strategic partner Make UK, our ‘Engineering Apprenticeships: Employer Accreditation’ recognises exemplar employers of engineering apprentices; helping young people to make more informed choices on where they pursue their apprenticeship, whilst enabling excellent employers to get recognised and stand out in the competitive world of attracting young talent. Our Engineering Apprenticeships: Excellent Employer careers platform showcases member companies to a minimum of x5 schools per company, increasing employer brand awareness and signposting of aspiring engineers to their opportunities, whilst helping to inform and inspire the next generation.

We are delighted to welcome 23 new #apprentices to our site for 2024, as our transformation into one of the world’s most advanced manufacturing facilities stimulates demand for new talent. The new apprentices join the business during a hugely exciting period to participate in our award-winning apprenticeship scheme, where they will receive fully-funded training, working towards a professional qualification whilst getting paid. Sheffield Forgemasters’ apprentices will start at a variety of levels as we drive forward with significant investment into new plant and equipment to underpin the delivery of complex components for the UK defence programme, including for the new SSN-AUKUS submarine, which will replace Astute Class vessels. Emily Wynne, People Development Advisor for Early Careers, said: “We are continuing to seek out the best candidates for our apprenticeships programme as we look to upskill the next generation of employees and to preserve the skills we already have. “As we welcome the new apprentices, we are already working on a recruitment drive for our 2025 apprentice intake, which will be launched in the coming months through the company website and social media channels.” This year’s apprentices intake covers the following areas of the business: #Machining, Site Services, #NonDestructiveTesting, #ProjectManagement, Quality Control, Work Rolls, #IT, Recapitalisation, Distribution, Test House and #Finance, with one degree apprentice, studying #Metallurgy at Sheffield Hallam University. Thanks to our training partners AMRC Training Centre for supporting the apprenticeship programme. READ MORE: https://lnkd.in/d_5BMe5X
