Mossgiel Organic Dairy’s Post

IZ IT MOSSGIEL? This week, we had a call from someone in England who was VERY excited to have received a bottle of Mossgiel Milk, and congratulating us on getting over the border so quickly after our cow-funder had finished. Thing is, we don't sell our milk down south, yet. It was weird, but it also reminded us that we were contacted a couple of weeks ago to say how our milk was also being delivered in Aberdeen - but that's one of the only areas of Scotland we don't yet cover. What's going on? Well it turns out that our milk has become so popular that some canvassers are being asked for Mossgiel but instead of asking us to supply their dairy with Mossgiel Organic Brewed milk to deliver to new areas, they're supply regular milk in pint glass bottles with a plain blue or green top. If you have recently signed up to a delivery of Mossgiel, there is a very easy way to tell if it came from us or elsewhere. On our whole and semi-skimmed pints, you'll see Rabbie Burns himself staring back on top of the blue or green foil. On our 1L he's on the tamper-proof label that seals the bottle lid on top and says MOSSGIEL bold and proud. The only exception is our Gold 'Cow with Calf' milk, which simply says 'Cow with Calf' in print on top of a gold foil - we'll be upgrading our foils to include Rabbie in the New Year. Another way to check is from our 'health mark' - the legal code that must be on all dairy packaging to state where the milk comes from. Our code is UK KA 040 Now, we're taking that as a sign that we're winning and it's very flattering and all - but it's also very disingenuous and a continuation of the lack of transparency our industry has been plagued with for decades.
