  • ORGANIC: RAISING THE STANDARD Other dairies follow the standards. We set new ones. Being “organic” is more than a label on a bottle for us. It’s a promise: 👉 No pesticides or chemicals in our fields – we farm in harmony with nature, encouraging biodiversity and healthy soils. 👉 No feed additives e.g Bovear  – just pasture fed the way it should be. 👉 No compromise on our Mossgiel Girls’ welfare – our Ayrshire cows enjoy a stress-free life. We’ve also developed our unique brewed milk process to give you that creamy, natural goodness—because real milk should taste like, well… real milk. Organic isn’t just better for you, it’s better for the planet. Ready to taste the difference? https://lnkd.in/etQgWBMt #OrganicMilk #SustainableFarming #BetterForThePlanet

  • RAW MILK IN SCOTLAND WHAT'S THE FUSS? The topic of raw milk always sparks discussions, especially with the spotlight on our industry (thanks Bovaer). Some peeps say it’s the ultimate drink, packed with nutrients & flavour. Others voice concerns about safety after Scotland had the highest instances of ecoli infections in Europe in the 70s, amongst other health issues, which led to a ban on selling raw milk for drinking. But, even with hygiene improvements & greater traceability the ban continues - where does Mossgiel fit in to this? People ask daily if we’ll ever offer raw milk; we get it—it’s a hot topic. Farmer Bryce grew up with raw milk on the breakfast table & many farmers still do. When he returned to the farm, he hated supermarket milk & it’s homogenised watery taste so much, he has stopped drinking it in his years away from the farm but fell in love again when he downed his first glass of moo when he returned. That’s when we knew we needed to find a way to capture the creamy, authentic flavour & nutrition of raw milk, while ensuring it’s safe for all. So, we developed a unique approach to pasteurise, inspired by low-temperature methods used in micro-dairies, but one that can be scaled so more people than ever can enjoy the benefits. We’ve called it "brewing”. This process locks in that natural nutricion & texture while eliminating risks associated with raw milk. After years of refining the method, designing custom equipment, & perfecting every detail, we’re proud to offer milk that’s as close to raw as it gets, but safe to enjoy. And we didn’t stop there! By staying true to our values—organic farming, sustainable practices, and putting cows first—we’ve created milk that’s better for you, our animals, & the planet. No homogenisation, no additives, just pure, creamy goodness straight from the organic family farms of southwest Scotland to you. So, whether you’re a long-time raw milk fan or just curious about why Mossgiel is different, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Drop a comment below or send us a message—we’re always happy to chat! • IZ IT MOSSGIEL? This week, we had a call from someone in England who was VERY excited to have received a bottle of Mossgiel Milk, and congratulating us on getting over the border so quickly after our cow-funder had finished. Thing is, we don't sell our milk down south, yet. It was weird, but it also reminded us that we were contacted a couple of weeks ago to say how our milk was also being delivered in Aberdeen - but that's one of the only areas of Scotland we don't yet cover. What's going on? Well it turns out that our milk has become so popular that some canvassers are being asked for Mossgiel but instead of asking us to supply their dairy with Mossgiel Organic Brewed milk to deliver to new areas, they're supply regular milk in pint glass bottles with a plain blue or green top. If you have recently signed up to a delivery of Mossgiel, there is a very easy way to tell if it came from us or elsewhere. On our whole and semi-skimmed pints, you'll see Rabbie Burns himself staring back on top of the blue or green foil. On our 1L he's on the tamper-proof label that seals the bottle lid on top and says MOSSGIEL bold and proud. The only exception is our Gold 'Cow with Calf' milk, which simply says 'Cow with Calf' in print on top of a gold foil - we'll be upgrading our foils to include Rabbie in the New Year. Another way to check is from our 'health mark' - the legal code that must be on all dairy packaging to state where the milk comes from. Our code is UK KA 040 Now, we're taking that as a sign that we're winning and it's very flattering and all - but it's also very disingenuous and a continuation of the lack of transparency our industry has been plagued with for decades.

  • MUM OF THE HERD! 🐄 Did you know cows are natural co-parents? 💙 In the wild, mother cows often share parenting duties within the herd, allowing calves to nurse and bond with other mums as part of a supportive community. On our home farm, we embrace this instinct through our cow with calf method, keeping calves with their mums until they are ready to be weaned. This natural system encourages happy, healthy calves while reducing stress for both calves and mums. Plus, studies show that extended bonding can even enhance calf immunity and social skills! 🌱 We’re proud to champion a farming method that works with nature, not against it. Learn more about our unique approach at mossgielfarm.co.uk. This mum's taking her job seriously, feeding not one, but TWO calves (and no, she didn’t have twins!). What a legend! 🐮💪

  • HAS VEGANISM PEAKED? 5 years ago, there was a LOT of noise about veganism, and headlines about the ‘destruction of animal agriculture’ within a few short years. With the ferocity of the headlines and loud voices in the press, you’d probably be forgiven if you thought it would come true. Recently however, those voices have become less and less abrasive; with organics, wholefoods and mixed diets becoming the recommended medicine of our global nutrition experts. In the past 2 weeks too – the absolutely incredible uproar caused by Bovaer has been a clear sign that our nation is not shunning nature’s original superfoods like milk and meat; but that actually, we just want these products as naturally made as possible – with no sh*t in them – and with less control from BIG FOOD and their mass profiteering ambitions. We believe that the future isn’t about extremes – it’s about balance. It’s about an industry that truly listens to you, our supporters, and which provides transparency about the food you buy and eat. As small food companies, we cannot ignore the concerns raised by the vegan movement. We must address valid concerns, build trust, and ensure fair prices for farmers. If we do, we can create a food system that works for everyone, and support everyones choice of how they want to eat; a supportive system that benefits animals, people, and the planet 🌍 There’s also never been a greater opportunity for organic farming too. Only Organic guarantees no synthetic additives or products like Bovaer for example – it’s literally against the rules to use it. Organics focuses on nature’s toolbox, using only what she provides to grow our food. We believe organic has become more than just a niche now – it’s a blueprint for the future of food. What do you think the future of food looks like? Let us know below 👇 #MossgielFarm #OrganicFarming #AnimalWelfare #SustainableFuture #TransparencyMatters #Veganism
