Households that own an e-bike drive 19% less often, according to a recent study. They are typically willing to walk or bike for trips up to three miles, compared to just one mile for those without e-bikes. Electric bikes can play a vital role in sustainable transportation and reducing car dependence- especially as bicycle transportation infrastructure catches up to enable safe and effective travel. The findings of this study reinforce the importance of e-bikes in reducing car dependence and achieving development goals towards sustainable transportation and age-friendly cities.
