Here's a great video briefly explaining the robust traffic datasets currently being collected with MetroCount technology for the #GympieRoadBypassTunnell project in #Queensland. Thanks to Bart Mellish, Minister for Transport and Main Roads, and Marty Prowse from Matrix Traffic and Transport Data, who explained how this data will ensure the best #RoadSafety and efficiency outcomes for this large #Infrastructure project. It's great to see appreciation of reliable, accurate and complete datasets at the very beginning of a project, as this will lay the foundation for everything to come! We were privileged to get the opportunity to chat with the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Bart Mellish about traffic surveys and the equipment we use. The current project, Gympie Rd Bypass Tunnel is a big one, with over 600 loggers and cameras being installed. Arup and Veitch Lister Consulting are partnering to produce the modelling for this project. This only gets done with teamwork. Both Matrix NSW and Victorian teams arriving this week to chime in with Qld teams coordinated by Noah Prowse and Jeremy Parsons . Thanks Bart Mellish for the chat and showing interest in our range of data collecting equipment. We are normally the unseen industry at the start of these marquee infrastructure project. #trafficsurveys #trafficengeering Matrix Traffic and Transport Data

Breaking News! The U.S. Department of Transportation just announced that it is awarding $60 million in grants to accelerate V2X deployment. Today, Intelligent Transportation Society of America President & CEO Laura Demeo Chace joined Shailen Bhatt, Adminstrator of the Federal Highway Administration, Dr. Robert C. Hampshire, Deputy Assistant Secretary and Chief Science Officer of the USDOT Research and Technology, Carlos Braceras of the Utah Department of Transportation, Erin Mendenhall, Mayor of Salt Lake City Corporation, and Jay Fox of Utah Transit Authority. Utah DOT and its partners were awarded a grant for the “Connecting the West” project, which was submitted in partnership with Colorado DOT, Wyoming DOT, and the City and County of Denver. This project will enhance collaboration among these authorities, who all have mature and proven V2X systems, to create a cohesive, interoperable network. In Maricopa County, the grant will be put to work utilizing innovative solutions to improve mobility and safety throughout the region. Working with private and public agency partners, the County will lead a large-scale deployment of V2X technologies relying on 5.9 GHz communications to connect 750 physical and virtual roadside units with an estimated 400 onboard units targeting transit, emergency, and freight fleets. The 750 intersection upgrades would represent 25% of all intersections in the county. The Texas Transportation Institute project will build momentum for V2X by implementing signal phase and timing expansion, flood warning integration, VRU identification, and rail crossing integration, among other uses. The outcome will be a cutting-edge, interconnected network that not only enhances safety and mobility but also serves as a reference implementation for the future of connected transportation. This deployment will create a multi-regional operations environment across a population area of more than five million people and hundreds of thousands of daily trips on 300 miles of the National Highway System utilizing the communications spectrum and companion technologies to dramatically expand current outreach mechanisms. This year, several cities and organizations have been awarded grants under the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets for All (SS4A) program. The projects funded demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing road safety, improving infrastructure, and embracing innovative solutions to protect all road users. Here are some key themes with significant spatial relevance that have emerged among the award winners: Spatial Analysis for Enhanced Safety: Many projects emphasize the importance of spatial analysis to identify high-risk areas and inform strategic safety improvements. By leveraging spatial data, cities can pinpoint locations that require intervention and deploy targeted measures to reduce accidents and save lives. Vision Zero Initiatives: A recurring theme is the adoption of Vision Zero principles aimed at eliminating all traffic fatalities and severe injuries. Several projects are integrating Vision Zero strategies to create safer, more equitable transportation systems through data-driven approaches and community engagement. Real-Time Data Monitoring: The implementation of real-time data monitoring systems is becoming increasingly common. By using advanced technologies, cities can continuously assess traffic conditions, monitor the effectiveness of safety measures, and make data-informed decisions to enhance roadway safety. Community Engagement and Equity: Engaging with communities to ensure equitable distribution of safety measures is crucial. Many projects highlight the importance of involving local stakeholders in the planning and implementation process to address the unique needs of different neighborhoods and ensure fair access to safe transportation. The collective efforts of these projects will undoubtedly contribute to making our streets safer for everyone. #RoadSafety #VisionZero #SpatialAnalysis #SafeStreets #TransportationInnovation Esri

High Speed Rail Project Phase II - EIR/EIS Planning in Process for southern California. View the proposed routes here. HSR ArcGIS interactive map https://buildhsr.com/map/ The high-speed rail system planned for California will eventually encompass over 800 miles of rail, with up to 24 stations. Because the project is so large, and will run through areas of the state with extremely different geographical, environmental and economic issues, the project has been broken into ten separate sections. Each of the sections will go through the same individual Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (#EIR #EIS) before significant work can begin in the area. Phase 2 is the future program extensions from Merced to Sacramento and from #LosAngeles to #SanDiego via the #InlandEmpire that would complete the 800 miles of the system. It is important to advance Phase 2 planning so connectivity improvements are made in anticipation of future high-speed rail service. We are working closely with #localpartners to advance Phase 2 planning activities between Los Angeles and San Diego, Merced and Sacramento, and over the #AltamontCorridor. https://lnkd.in/e2zN3Ggt #HighSpeedRail #SanBernardino, #Riverside and #SanDiego County Phase in yellow.
