𝚆𝙾𝙻𝙵'𝚂 𝙵𝙾𝚇𝙶𝙻𝙾𝚅𝙴 Aromatic, rich, fresh. A "double" Whisky Collins with length & body, where the Palo Santo does the magic. After trying to highlight the balsamic aromas of the wood in different ways, we came up with a quick resting in the bottle after being pre-batched. It was the easiest way to preserve all the other tastes while keeping a perfect balance. The acidity of the pickled rhubarb is additional for the drink; adding the sourness is not necessary but is able to improve the experience, with these bread/biscuity notes coming from the pandan and burnt chamomile to close the circle. Five years ago, this drink was a blast, selling up to 30/40 per day. Is it a style of whisky, a particular flavour within your whisky, or maybe a certain mouthfeel or finish which you find yourself gravitating towards? Let's talk whisky! Slainte.

Are you making this mistake? If you're new to whisky or seeking new ways to enjoy a glass, there are a few common mistakes to sidestep. Here’s a guide to help make your next pour the best one yet! 1️⃣ Price ≠ Quality: A higher price doesn’t always mean better whisky. Explore single malts at different price points, focusing on flavor, craftsmanship, and personal taste over price. 2️⃣ Whisky Isn’t a Shot: Single malts are meant to be savored. Sip slowly to enjoy the unfolding flavors and layers of complexity—no need to rush! 3️⃣ Age Isn’t Everything: A whisky’s age doesn’t guarantee quality. Younger whiskies can be bold and vibrant, while older ones may not always match your taste. Focus on finding the right flavor balance. For a standout single malt that defies convention, try Paul John whisky. This Indian whisky, crafted in Goa, offers rich honey, spicy warmth, and a hint of smoke—a true flavor journey! Tag Paul John in the comments if you’ve tried or are keen to taste the Paul John Bold. Cheers! 🥂 #sonalholland #masterofwine #pauljohnwhiskey #bold #whiskey #indianwhiskey #singlemalt #beginners #whisky

Using a barrel made from juniper wood for the finish of a single malt whisky will impart unique flavors and aromas to the whisky. Juniper wood will add a distinctive herbal and woody character, along with hints of spice and earthiness. This will complement the natural flavors of the whisky, enhancing its complexity and depth. However, since juniper is a potent flavor, the maturation process will need to be carefully monitored to ensure the whisky doesn't become overwhelmed by the juniper notes. Overall, it will result in a distinctive and intriguing whisky profile. Gin makers will also benefit using this very rare wood. Art and cask, have a nice selection of rare Juniper barrels masterpieces, yes we can call these masterpieces as few coopers have our knowledge to make such rarities. Sizes vary depending on the tree. but as a guideline 100 yo 140 litres is about the norm. www.artandcask.com www.artandcask.fr

Does the color of spirit indicate quality ? When it comes to spirits, the color does not necessarily imply the quality or taste of the drink. For instance, a clear whiskey can be just as smooth and refined as a darker, richer whiskey. The color of a spirit can be misleading for several reasons: 1️⃣ Some spirits have caramel coloring added to achieve a certain look. This doesn’t affect taste or quality, but it can influence your perception. 2️⃣ Filtration can remove color from a spirit. For example, many aged spirits are filtered to appear clear, so a lack of color doesn’t mean they lack complexity. 3️⃣ While aging in oak barrels can add color, spirits can also be aged in stainless steel or used barrels, resulting in a lighter hue. The color doesn’t always reflect the spirit’s maturity or flavor depth. The true measure of quality in a spirit lies in its taste, aroma, and texture. A well-crafted spirit will have a balanced profile, with a harmonious blend of flavors and a pleasing mouthfeel.\ Have you been surprised by the taste of a spirit despite its color? Using Bruichladdich peated whisky barrels to mature non-peated spirits can impart unique characteristics that enhance the flavor profile. Here's how they might impact maturation: 1. Subtle Smokiness The residual peat from the previous whisky will gradually infuse into the non-peated spirit, adding a subtle smoky note. This effect can range from delicate to pronounced, depending on how heavily peated the original whisky was and how long the spirit is matured. 2. Complexity from Previous Fillings Bruichladdich barrels, especially those used for their heavily peated Port Charlotte or Octomore lines, often have layers of complexity from the maturation of robust, peaty whiskies. Non-peated spirits can absorb these nuanced flavors, including hints of earth, ash, or campfire. 3. Enhanced Wood Influence The casks will already have undergone seasoning from the peated whisky, which means the tannins and vanillin of the oak are balanced with the phenolic compounds from the peat. This can create a smoother integration of flavors in the non-peated spirit. 4. Aromatic Depth The barrels may contribute additional aromas such as sea spray, medicinal notes, or even a mineral quality, depending on their history and Bruichladdich's terroir influence from Islay. 5. Interaction with Spirit Character Light Spirits (e.g., grain whiskies, rum): These spirits can act as a blank canvas, allowing the peat and wood influence to shine. Robust Spirits (e.g., cognac, bourbon): The cask may add a subtle smoky layer, enhancing the depth without overpowering the base character. Overall, maturing non-peated spirits in Bruichladdich peated whisky barrels is an excellent way to create unique, layered expressions that highlight the interplay of smoky, peaty notes with the spirit's original profile.
