Seems like event season is in full swing now. Here's how one nonprofit collected 240 video and photo testimonies during their fundraiser event. Now that spring hit and I'm seeing nonprofits leaders pulled between all the components that hosting an event entails, it's definitely taking me back. The pre-planning. Building an agenda. Sponsorship outreach. Updating the event website. Creating marketing materials. Selling tickets. Hosting the actual event. Raising money during the live auction or donation campaign. And then trying to showcase the event impact after it all wraps. I remember the energy I got from the thrill of all that, that but also the exhaustion. I also recall how often I lamented that the whirlwind of activity made it so easy for our team to overlook collecting photos and videos taken by attendees. We knew people were using their devices to capture photos but we frequently missed out on that lost marketing collateral to show a highlight reel or use for future promotion. That's definitely one of the reasons why I love this effort by Wounded Warrior Homes during their golf event last year. They seamlessly collect content on the spot, and there's definitely something to be said for doing it real time the day of versus trying to collect after the fact. Here's how they did it: 1. Collect Designated 2 volunteers to be their content collection champions. They were stationed at check-in and at one of the holes and asked golfers why the cause was important to them. They were able to collect 240 photos and videos during the day from attendees. 2. Organize The photos pushed into their story bank and then directly into Canva. This made it super easy for their team to access the content instantaneously. 3. Share The sharing is the best part. The event wrapped up with a reception and silent auction. During this they played a slideshow of all the photos and videos collected earlier in the day. They quickly made it in Canva and displayed on their big screen during dinner and cocktail hour. Now it lives on their website in promotion of the 2024 golf outing. Here's the full story: https://lnkd.in/g_4fQYSd #events #nonprofitevents #fundraising

My very first gala is coming up this weekend! As I'm busy putting the finishing touches on things, I'm also thinking about why my first gala may be my last: 💰 Galas feel like the antithesis of donor-centered fundraising. "Here, purchase a $300 ticket to an event where we tell you why you should support us for two hours and then ask you for even more." I believe there are better options. 💰 An event like this is a huge undertaking and a huge cost for a fundraising team. As a one-person team, I certainly don't have the capacity to plan an event like this on my own and most small organizations don't have the capacity for an event like this. 💰 Let's face it - in-person events have changed since COVID-19. It's harder than ever to get people in the door and a stuffy gala just doesn't do it for donors anymore. What do you think? Are galas dead? ☠

3 Marketing Tips for Getting More Local Clients 🏠🎯 If you’re a local business looking to grow, here are three powerful ways to connect with your community and bring in more clients: 1. Sponsor Local Events🏅: Get your name out there by sponsoring local events, whether it’s a neighborhood festival, charity run, or even a community clean-up day. It’s a great way to show you’re invested in the area while getting visibility! 2. Get Involved with Community Groups🤝: Join local business associations, attend meetups, or participate in online community groups. Building relationships with other local businesses and residents helps establish trust and creates opportunities for referrals. 3. Offer Seasonal Promotions 🌸🎄: People love a good deal! I’m looking for some recommendations or advice… even just perspective. It’s abit of a long post but it’s for charity, so please read if you can. We have launched a couple of events now and they have been really successful. We had a great time the people that have taken part of had a great time and it’s been valuable for building the community and helping businesses to grow inside the Tameside area. The reason I mentioned this, and this is where I need advice, I had the idea of turning this into a regular thing. A networking event where the focus is on the community and business growth inside there local area. We would take a charity inside that area that is acting as a pillar for the community, create the event and invite people to attend for free (donation of what you think it’s worth to go to the charity of the event). Ideally we would be focusing on C suite, SLTs and business owners as an attendees. Offer some sponsored slots for people to talk, in which the money raised will go completely to the charity. We wouldn’t take a penny. This would all be for the charity. We are good at running events and this is our way of giving back to them and the community. I don’t know if this will work or if it’s something that already been done but I’d love to get some feedback from my network to see what they think. You all have an incredible wealth of experience in terms of being networking events and even running events. Thanks in advance.

Making a telephone call to a supporter who has registered for one of your challenge events is the perfect opportunity to let them know how they are making a difference. It will ensure they feel valued, through expressing interest in their preparation or training, helping with fundraising ideas and answering any initial questions. It can also help you understand the motivations for your supporters getting involved in any particular event, which is useful for creating more meaningful dialogues, shaping your future fundraising or sponsorship challenge events, and contributing to your overall strategy. But this is only one of three calls you should be making to your challenge event supporters! Want to find out more? Then get in touch! #fundraisingtips #fundraisingfriday #fundraisingstrategy

Money, Money, Money, must be funny, in an event-planner's world (and in this economy!) Event teams budgets are down but demand for IRL events is UP like crazy. So what to event teams do? They have to get creative on how they spend their 💰 🤑 But its hard - event teams are now expected to create the same (if not more) amount of impact + build community. If you are struggling to build events + impact, here are a few tips that have worked for me: - Partner up with others who are throwing similar events (more budget + attendees) - Try to get venue spaces donated to you - most $$ goes towards this and there are plenty of beautiful office spaces you can work with - Use free tools to help you plan your events, like Lu.ma, Partiful, AfterWork, and more. Event Prizes That Matter 🏆 We’ve all been to events where we collect branded pens, tote bags, and stress balls. But let’s face it - these items don’t create lasting value or engagement. We explored how event planners can shift their approach to prizes by offering rewards that attendees truly care about. Here's an important point: Attendees don’t want more stuff, they want value. Whether it’s exclusive consultations, access to VIP content, or charitable contributions, meaningful prizes resonate far more with attendees. For example, offering time with an industry expert or a chance to contribute to a cause like Doctors Without Borders creates an emotional connection and a memorable experience that goes beyond the event. At Incentli, we believe that offering real value through customized rewards helps build deeper relationships with attendees. It’s not just about getting people to play - it’s about offering incentives that align with their values and create meaningful engagement. 💭 How are you rethinking event rewards? #Incentli #EventEngagement #Gamification
