Thank you Vuelio for the webinar today with Adam Leyland - Editor in Chief of The Grocer. I've been deep into ESG work for a client (automotive) and hearing Adam talk of the challenges of greenwashing amongst FMCG industries and car manufacturers was really insightful. He urges PRs to address these points when contacting media: Honesty Transparency Data/Robustness Hero brands: embedded sustainability News: groundbreaking developments Think carefully about the claims you are making, make sure you've the proof/data to back it up and even with the best intentions - you can still be misleading. We've all got to make changes, but it's up to PRs to help steer the narratives of our organisations and avoid greenwashing.

🌱 Why Every Company in the EU's Logistics and Food Production Sector Should Consider a Chief Sustainable Officer In the context of the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) regulations, especially for companies within the EU's logistics and food production sectors, integrating sustainability isn't just a moral imperative; it's a strategic advantage. For a company with a €100 million turnover, here's why: 📈 Profit Potential: Companies actively integrating ESG principles can see significant gains. While it's challenging to pinpoint exact figures due to varying factors, a proactive stance on sustainability can lead to improved brand loyalty, operational efficiencies, and market positioning, potentially boosting your bottom line by a noticeable margin. 🚫 Penalty Risks: Non-compliance with ESG regulations can result in hefty fines. Though these can vary widely, penalties can reach up to 5-10% of annual global turnover for severe violations, making ignorance an expensive risk. 🌍 Global Impact: Beyond finances, embracing ESG principles means contributing positively to our planet and society—a reward in its own right. 💡 Action over Words: Many companies promise to prioritize sustainability "soon," but only those who act will thrive in tomorrow's market. 📊 EBT Increase: Implementing ESG measures isn't just about avoiding penalties; it's about seizing opportunities to elevate your Earnings Before Taxes (EBT), ensuring long-term viability and success. Let's not wait. The time for discussion has passed; the time for action is now. For a better world and a stronger company. Freshcon GmbH #IFS #Logistics #ESG

Glad that I could be there to speak in the Opening Session of SustaiNext 2024 titled ESG Reporting Comes of Age : 25 years of GRI. Enriching discussions with the 250 senior executives and multi sectoral business heads as the audience made me reflect about the maturity and seriousness of the organisation. Grateful to Madhulika Sharma and her team who curated the Opening Session of the two day Conference around ESG reporting that is rapidly evolving from an unidimensional, voluntary approach to a more complex, multi-dimensional set of disclosures that address the growing demands of regulators, investors, and other stakeholders. While voluntary frameworks like GRI, CDP, TCFD, and TNFD continue to evolve, regulatory shifts are reshaping the landscape of non-financial reporting globally. Regulations such as the EU's CSRD, India's BRSR, and other data-driven rules like CBAM, EUDR, and plastic waste management laws highlight the need for companies to adopt a holistic, future-ready approach to sustainability and ESG disclosures. This shift underscores the importance of robust and comprehensive reporting practices that meet both regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations. Through my association I do see many Indian businesses demonstrate a comprehensive approach to environmental responsibility, social equity, and economic sustainability. 2025: The Year ESG Goes Beyond Compliance In 2025, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) isn’t just a checkbox. It’s your business’s untapped goldmine. Compliance is the bare minimum. Winning companies are flipping the script and using ESG to create value and outpace their competitors. Here’s how the best are doing it, 1. Cutting Costs by Rethinking Supply Chains Walmart reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by revamping supply chain logistics, cutting unnecessary steps, and prioritizing renewable energy in operations. The result? Billions saved over the last decade. • What does this mean for you? Sustainable supply chains aren’t just about looking good, they’re about improving efficiency and trimming expenses. 2. Winning Customers by Aligning with Values Patagonia’s "Don’t Buy This Jacket" campaign aligned with eco-conscious consumer values and doubled their revenue in the following year. • Takeaway, today’s customers are voting with their wallets. Show them you care about what they care about, and you’ll build loyalty that sticks. 3. Securing Investment by Meeting ESG Standards BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, has made ESG compliance a key criterion for investment. If you’re not meeting ESG benchmarks, you’re shutting the door on a massive pool of capital. • Reality check, investors want to see that you’re playing the long game. ESG is now a must-have for securing the funding to scale. Here’s the kicker, if you’re only doing ESG to tick boxes, you’re missing the point and leaving serious money on the table. ESG isn’t just a framework; it’s a competitive advantage. So, what’s your biggest challenge with ESG right now? Let’s discuss in the comments. Together, we can find the opportunity hiding in your compliance efforts. #Sustainability #Innovation #Leadership #FutureOfWork #BusinessGrowth #DigitalTransformation #ClimateChange #CorporateSocialResponsibility #GrowthMindset #Entrepreneurship #GreenBusiness #ChangeManagement #EnvironmentalImpact #LeadershipDevelopment #ESG #SustainableBusiness #Industry40 #InnovationStrategy #BusinessStrategy #ImpactInvesting #Finance #Banking #ChemicalIndustry #Manufacturing #FoodProduction #SupplyChain #Energy #CleanTech #CircularEconomy #AgTech #Retail #ConstructionIndustry
