I am not one to court publicity, however I am a staunch advocate of Northern business, the people I work with now, and the ones I’ve worked with in the past.    The recent debate around the ‘Regions’ haemorrhaging business to the black hole of London has enticed me out from under my rock to write the below:

The regional debate: are the regions losing, or are indies winning?

Love this - and hope all is good with you Leesy. I sometimes yearn for the golden era of long lunches at Barca, MPA Christmas Parties and the likes. It felt like I joined the advertising industry just before things got too serious and the golden era ended! Great to see the success you’re enjoying with Vega, and you’re right that the region remains awash with bright minds and talent.

Quite right. I couldn't agree more. The headlines are bleak, but below the radar there is a long list of independents doing great work for clients who really appreciate it. News of losses from the Groups will always be high profile, but as you say, let's celebrate the positive achievements of the indies. Nice mention of the old TMD and Media Business days too 👍

Well said, Ian. I think you should come out from under your rock and tell it how it is more often!

Well said mate! I recall your skills more than thirty years ago Ian!

You should stand on your soap box more often Ian Lees. A great, positive counter to negative news! I agree wholeheartedly - bring it on regions 🥂

A fun and pointy read there Ian - love it! Also not actually that different from what I said btw. A more managed transition to a new wave of entrepreneurs might have been preferable for most of our friends in the media community but your point still stands. I’d still drop the R Word but you do you. Hope to catch up soon.
