Heila Technologies’ Post

🌪️ How can we ensure energy systems withstand severe weather like hurricanes? 🌪️ Groundbreaking resilience was demonstrated by a residential community in Southshore Bay, Florida, during the recent storms. Thanks to the Heila EDGE® control platform, Emera's Block Energy™ platform, as well as Rehlko generators for additional backup generation, the community maintained power throughout the entire duration of the hurricanes. This pioneering community is part of the nation’s first utility-owned residential microgrid system! ⚡🏡 Before the hurricanes hit, the microgrid seamlessly “islanded” itself from the main grid, ensuring a clean, consistent energy supply during the outages. We believe this approach is the future of resilient, sustainable energy systems. Interested in learning more about Heila EDGE use cases? Send us a message or let us know in the comments. ⬇

This is great to see! The power outages were so significant during Milton, with many families without power (and some without water) for a week or more (including my family). Microgrids and solar + storage offer such a promising solution for the growing threat of extreme weather. I’d love to see programs like this TECO pilot expanded in Florida.
