Progress continuing at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh Biomes Project. ✔️🌿🍃   These photos show the use a mobile gantry to position the pipework due to access restrictions. ⛔   Great to be working alongside strong partners in our client FES Group and main contractor Balfour Beatty plc on the Edinburgh Biomes Project at Royal Botanic Gardens – working towards Net Zero! ♻️ Providing heating to the living collections based within existing glass houses delivered from a new energy centre combining ground source heat pumps with combined heat and power distributed through a preinsulated pipe network. 🌡️ This will enable the gardens to substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help to preserve the living collection for future generations. 🙌 #Durotan #districtenergy #netzero #preinsulatedpipe #utilities #districtheating #renewableenergy #heatnetworks #futureenergy #RoyalBotanicGardens #Edinburgh #project

We were delighted to see that the Viking Energy Network in Jarrow has scooped another top award, winning Best Public Sector Project at the RICS Awards Grand Final on 4 October 2024 🏆🎉 The scheme which harnesses low grade heat from the River Tyne and distributes it to buildings in Jarrow town saves South Tyneside Council 1,035 tonnes of CO2 and around £492,000 a year. Durotan supplied and constructed the heat network in collaboration with main contractor Colloide. 👏 We are delighted that the Viking Energy Network Jarrow has won Best Climate Action or Decarbonisation Initiative at the Association of Public Sector Excellence Awards for South Tyneside Council! 🏆 This highly innovative scheme, one of the first of its kind, made use a water source heat pump in the river Tyne to generate hot water for heating distributed to buildings in Jarrow town centre through a network of underground preinsulated pipes, resulting in substantial carbon savings. We are delighted to have been able to support our client, NG Bailey, with their ongoing mechanical and electrical contract at the University of Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus. 👏 The Temple Quarter Campus will serve as a new hub for innovation, academic and scientific research. 🔬 Our works will allow the integration of the new buildings with Bristol’s ground-breaking city-wide district heating scheme.
