Why I am now a fan of blind football … and related interesting insights for cultural development! A short while ago, I attended the semi-finals of blind football at the Paris Paralympics and had just a great evening with around 10.000 people in the Stade de la Tour Eiffel. I understood that blind football has most often no audience at all despite the incredible performances of the players including an impressive penalty-shoot-out between the teams of Argentina and Brazil. Some reflections why so many did show up and had a great time: A venue with an added value – cultural heritage makes the difference – in this case the Eiffel Tower A once-in a live occasion – maybe never again a Paralympic football tournament will be done at a stadium at the Eiffel Tower A safe space of interaction – a secure and well-designed access and public space and crowds supported by great volunteers A professional digital space allowing easy access to reservation, tickets and follow-up information A considerable support by media (in France which I follow regularly) to demonstrate the effects of equal coverages of Olympic and Paralympic sports and with the clear mission to be an eye-opener for paralympic performances A place of fun with common interactions, life music and life performances as well as building on the spirit of the Olympics ... and an incredible sunset on top. I am already looking forward to the next blind football tournaments! The 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris officially get underway (competition actually started on Wednesday) today with the most ambitious Opening Ceremonies ever conducted. What most people won’t be thinking about (and brands interested in marketing around the Olympics need to be) is that today not only marks the start of the Summer Olympics, but it also comes just 561 days before the start of the 2026 Winter Games in Italy. The short turnaround between Summer and Winter Olympics is a stark contrast to the 902 days that passed between the opening of the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing and the start of the 2024 Summer Games in Paris. That means brands who want to join in on the Olympic movement have 341 fewer days to sign deals, build strategies and execute. So, as you enjoy the amazing competition that will unfold in Paris (full schedule below), let’s start to have that discussion about how to capture the momentum of partnering with a national governing body as it builds towards sending America’s best to Italy in 2026. 👉 Olympic Schedule: https://lnkd.in/dknDA74i #thetimeisnow #planahead #gousa

#snsinstitution #snsdesignthinking #snsdesignthinkers The modern Olympic Games (OG; or Olympics; French: Jeux olympiques, JO)[a][1] are the world's leading international sporting events. They feature summer and winter sports competitions in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions. The Olympic Games are considered the world's foremost sports competition, with more than 200 teams, representing sovereign states and territories, participating. By default, the Games generally substitute for any world championships during the year in which they take place (however, each class usually maintains its own records).[2] The Olympic Games are held every four years. Since 1994, they have alternated between the Summer and Winter Olympics every two years during the four-year Olympiad.[3][4] Their creation was inspired by the ancient Olympic Games, held in Olympia, Greece from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894, leading to the first modern Games in Athens in 1896. The IOC is the governing body of the Olympic Movement, which encompasses all entities and individuals involved in the Olympic Games. The Olympic Charter defines their structure and authority.

The 2024 Paris Olympic Games were a truly spectacular event, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation across its venues, ceremonies, and operations. Here are some of the key highlights: 🎉 Ceremonies: The opening ceremony was a historic event, with the parade of nations taking place along the Seine River—a first in Olympic history. Over 600,000 spectators lined the riverbanks, making it one of the most attended Olympic ceremonies ever. The closing ceremony at the Stade de France was a fitting grand finale, where 71,500 attendees witnessed a stunning artistic display, including a tribute to the athletes and the 45,000 volunteers who played a crucial role in the Games' success. 🏟️ Sporting Venues: Paris utilised a mix of historic and temporary venues to host the events. Notable venues included the iconic Stade de France for athletics, the Champs-Élysées and Place de la Concorde for skateboarding and BMX, and the historic Grand Palais for fencing and taekwondo. The only new, permanent structure was the Paris Olympic Aquatic Centre in Saint-Denis. 🔐 Accreditation Challenges: Managing accreditation for over 11,000 athletes and millions of spectators across various historic and temporary venues was an immense undertaking. Despite the complexity, the accreditation process was handled with remarkable efficiency, ensuring smooth and secure access for all participants throughout the Games. This successful management was pivotal in facilitating the seamless operation of events and maintaining the high standards expected of the Olympic Games. As we look forward to the next Olympics in Los Angeles, the successes of Paris 2024 will surely influence how future Games are organised. And what moment impressed you the most during these Olympic Games? #Paris2024 #Olympics #EventManagement #Accreditation #SportingEvents #OlympicVenues #AccredOPS

Following on from the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games are taking place from August 28 to September 8, 2024. The logistical impact of the Paralympic Games extends over a much broader period than just the duration of the actual events and will affect transportation to and from postal code areas 75, 77-79, and 91-95 in France to the end of September. Major delays are expected throughout the Paris region due to: • Reserved lanes for athletes and Olympic staff • An increase in the number of travellers and shipments • Limited access to specific areas/neighbourhoods • Restrictions or bans on regular vehicles in various areas • Inspections by French authorities In various areas regular vehicles will be restricted or even banned. Alternative means must be found for these: • 'Blue zones' around the Olympic sites: access only permitted with proof such as a delivery note. • 'Red zones', closest to the Olympic sites: access prohibited for any motor vehicle unless exempted. These zones will change daily based on the event schedule. The challenges and restrictions associated with the Games could result in additional costs. Olympic events will also be held in Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, Saint-Etienne, Nice, and Marseille. Please also take into account potential delays and possible additional costs for deliveries in or around these cities. We will strive to keep the impact as low as possible but are partly dependent on local circumstances. If you have any questions regarding your shipment, please contact your RIF representative.
