At India's first Healthy Snacking Summit, we hosted another engaging panel discussion on "Nurturing the Next Generation of Healthy Snacking". The panel featured prominent industry leaders Hariharan Premkumar, Managing Director & Head of India at DSG Consumer Partners; Arjun Vaidya, Founder of V3 Ventures; Alka Goel, Founding Partner at Alkemi Growth Capital; and Siddharth Borkar, India M&A Head at Orkla. Their diverse perspectives provided deep insights into the future of healthy snacking. Hariharan Premkumar shared, “We believe that low sugar and protein fortification are two themes that will become really popular. The Indian palate is widening, and we have a great opportunity to create new healthy snacking categories.” Adding to the conversation, Arjun Vaidya said, “Roughly 50% of household income is spent on food. We are price sensitive when it comes to food, so pricing is an important driver to consumption. While we talk about health, we need to make healthy foods and beverages more affordable.” Their insights underscored the critical factors driving the healthy snacking industry forward. This panel was a standout session, reinforcing our mission to help India take a step towards a better tomorrow. The day was filled with munching, mingling, and mind-blowing insights, leaving attendees inspired and equipped to embrace the evolving landscape of healthy snacking. #FarmleyIndianHealthySnackingSummit #IHSS #IndianHealthySnackingSummit #FarmleyHealthySnackingReport

The Healthy Snacking Market of India..!! Few months back we released a 108 pages report on Packaged Milkshakes Market of India - 2024 Here is the link and access: https://shorturl.at/LQU25 In this report, we covered the DEPTH of the category through primary, secondary and data driven research to cover everything anyone needed to know around the Packaged Milkshakes Category. We even invited industry experts to contribute to our report. With so much appreciation on this one; we figured a need of writing more category insight reports for the following reasons: ✅ Research reports are expensive and not accessible. We are trying to undo that ✅ Most of them are objective driven and are super specific. We are crafting the report on the same line - and can further cover both length and depth of the category, if needed ✅ They are designed for specific stake holders - our reports can be used by both incumbent and insurgent brands, investors, agencies and anyone and everyone who needs to know about the category Coming back to The Healthy Snacking Category report - knowing that this is one of the fastest growing food category in India and also quiet huge; we would be covering WIDTH of the category instead of DEPTH! We are taking a few steps ahead now and would love to invite Senior Analysts and Partners from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) McKinsey & Company Bain & Company EY Deloitte KPMG India PwC India who are specifically working on the F&B Industy in India. Pls do also take out 15 seconds to contribute to our research if you’re currently snacking: https://lnkd.in/dHzdUUNi We are open to suggestion - what would you like to know about the Healthy Snacking Market of India? Do let us know within a week - we are likely to release the report by end of August! www.d2pconsultancy.com #research #report #category #insights

I attended the Indian Healthy Snacking Summit on the 6th of July, and it was awesome to see how snacking is changing in our country! I got some great insights and met people who are driving real change. Here are some key takeaways that were food for thought: 📌 Evening Snacks with Tea or Coffee - 71% of people love to snack in the evening, usually with a cup of tea or coffee. This timeless chai ritual continues to be a staple of our snacking habits. 📌 Shift to Mindful Eating - 9 out of 10 people want to switch to healthier snacks. There's a big shift towards mindful eating. 📌 Cost is a barrier - 58% said that high costs stop them from buying healthier snacks. This indicates a need for more affordable, healthy snacks. 📌 Flavor First - 73% choose snacks based on taste. Flavor is still king. 📌 Low Sugar, High Protein That’s what is working when developing products for the sweeter tooth! Lovely meeting Kumar Ujjwal & Arjun Vaidya. The highlight for me was meeting Revant Himatsingka (Food Pharmer) who I have been following for a long time! A true leader in raising awareness about what we eat and why we need to read labels and make informed decisions. His long-term vision for health literacy is inspiring. I also had the pleasure of meeting his lovely wife. Cheers to making healthier snack choices! Thanks Farmley team for a great event. #event #entrepreneurship #healthysnack

Aroosa Ahmed one of my favourite subjects. It is a good story. The dip was obvious. Snacking is today overeating. highly processed and packed with added sugars, sodium, and saturated fats, can leave you hungrier and derail your health goals. U must have chewed on a granola, which is the healthy snack of choice for many, isn't as healthy as you think – thanks to added sugar and the huge portion size most people eat. Many people think fat-free cookies are a healthier option than a regular cookie. Bakery product contain tons of sugar and saturated fats. Unhealthy foods and snacks are part of the reason that increased Indians have falling prey slick marketing campaigns and misleading information becoming obese and sicker than before. Today, many snacks you think are healthy are really sneaking in calories you’d never suspect. The Indian kitchen has now woken up and decided to go desi rather than marketed products which are worse for health. Remember the advertisement fo famous health drink .’ I am the complaan boy, says #shahidkapoor and #ayeshatakia replies ‘ I’m am the complaan girl’ serving approx 29g sugar per 100 g. So Indian families are now going slow on processed foods which is a good sign. The eternal debate of tasty vs. healthy finally seems to be coming to an end. Here’s what I think. Not just on the debate but what I see as the trend for the snacking industry in 2025. There has always been this debate of snacking vs. healthy snacking. For the longest, healthy snacking was considered utopian – if something was tasty it was bound to be unhealthy and if it was healthy, it wouldn’t be palatable. But with the many innovations and of course newer ingredients being used, snacking has gotten healthy. And its not just the no sugar sweets, but more than that. Think millet snacks. Think baked. Think low salt. Think low spice. Think more natural ingredients. India’s snacking industry is the second largest in APAC. As per a recent report by NielsenIQ, 63% of Indians are keen to snack healthier. And 50% read the ingredient label to see if the snack is healthy. This has accelerated the growth if the healthy snacking industry which is now growing at 1.6x the rate of the snack industry. I predict this growth rate would grow to 2.2x to 2.6x in the coming year as more brands offer healthier snacking options and more customers, sp the Gen Z & Millennials chose healthy snacks. My recommendation & my choice of a healthy snack is Svasthyaa. I also enjoyed Kiru Millet Snacks when they sent me the hamper, pity we can’t buy them. Hope you enjoyed this. Do let me know so that I can share a few more reels on my predictions for 2025 for the retail and D2C categories. #BigIdeas2025 LinkedIn LinkedIn News India LinkedIn Guide to Creating #LinkedInCreators

The Changing Flavor of India: 5 Trends Shaping the Food Industry 🇮🇳 The Indian food scene is a vibrant tapestry, constantly evolving with changing consumer preferences and technological advancements. Here are five key trends I see shaping the industry shortly: 1. Health Takes Center Stage: Consumers are becoming increasingly health-conscious, seeking out fortified products, plant-based alternatives, and foods made with supergrains like quinoa and millet. This shift demands innovation from food companies, focusing on natural sweeteners and minimally processed options. 2. Upcycling & Sustainability: With growing awareness about food waste, "upcycled" ingredients are gaining traction. Restaurants and manufacturers are cleverly utilizing leftover food to create innovative dishes and products, promoting resourcefulness and sustainability. 3. The Rise of Probiotics & Fermentation: The health benefits of gut-friendly bacteria are attracting much attention. We'll see a surge in probiotic and fermented drinks like kombucha and kefir and fermented food products like kimchi and pickles. 4. Snacking Gets Healthy & Convenient: Consumers are looking for healthy snack options that are also convenient and on-the-go. This opens doors for innovative snack bars, protein-rich alternatives, and single-serve healthy meal options. 5. Regional Flavors Go Global: India's diverse culinary landscape holds immense potential for the global market. Expect regional cuisines like Assamese, Kashmiri, or Goan to gain prominence, offered in ready-to-eat formats or through restaurant chains. These are just a few of the ways the Indian food industry is evolving. It's an exciting time to be involved in this dynamic sector!
