Industry has always been defined, in the #dualuse context, as the First Line of Defence. Quite recently, during an important conference in Milan, I added to such definition, the one of #Industry as Part of the #Enforcement system. This can be especially applicable when dealing with #Russia #sanctions due to the very high risk of circumvention of the #restrictivemeasures adopted by EU and #G7 countries (and not only...). We do hope in a more and more strict cooperation between industry and national authorities responsible for implementing and enforcing the current #restrictive #measures

How do border control officers spot fake passports and verify travelers’ identities? Manual checks are only the tip of the iceberg—document readers are essential for automated verification, and sometimes deeper forensic investigation is required. The process is divided into primary and secondary inspections. If there are any doubts about document authenticity during the first phase, border control officers perform in-depth analysis using forensic devices. Take a look at Regula’s latest blog, which dives into the technology for safe borders: https://lnkd.in/gG5mMQ4F #RegulaBlog #RegulaForensics #BorderControl #ForensicInvestigation #ForensicDevices #PassportControl

A few grams of drugs can cause serious accidents. Our concern remains as we continue to find drugs for personal use on the ships we inspect. As I have said before, all of this creates a greater concern for maritime security that goes beyond the seizures of attempted international trafficking that we are used to dealing with. Fortunately, our dogs are experts at detecting even the smallest quantities of drugs that an individual may be carrying, and have been very successful in locating these narcotics on crew or in specific locations. Detecting these psychoactive substances is a way of increasing the safety of your operations, cargo and vessels by reducing the risk of accidents resulting from the use of these substances and their side effects. A common concern for travelers is the presence of markings on their passport. While these markings do not automatically invalidate your passport, border officers retain the discretion to assess the suspicion of fraud. It is crucial to note that they may subject your passport to closer scrutiny in such instances. #passportmarkings #passportfraud #traveladvice #bordercontrol #passportsecurity
