ICC's International Maritime Bureau (IMB) calls for sustained vigilance to protect seafarers amid increasing violence despite an overall drop in the number of incidents reported in IMB’s mid-year report for 2024. Despite a fall in the number of overall reported acts of piracy, incidents of a violent nature towards crews continues to rise. To safeguard seafarers, global shipping and trade, vessel owners and Masters are encouraged to continue following all recommended guidelines and best practises. 'Piracy, Armed Robbery and Conflict at Sea' by Witherbys and the International Chamber of Shipping provides a comprehensive overview of the measures seafarers should take to protect against, prevent, respond and recover from an incident of piracy, armed robbery or conflict at sea. Compliance with regulatory standards is paramount in today's rapidly evolving maritime industry. Key maritime security regulations, including the ISPS Code and IMO regulations, require stringent measures to prevent security incidents. Port security regulations and regional initiatives address specific threats through cargo screening and joint patrols. Environmental regulations, such as MARPOL, mitigate environmental risks. Customs and trade security measures prevent contraband smuggling Multiplan Nigeria Ltd understands that navigating these regulations requires a comprehensive approach encompassing physical security, personnel training, cybersecurity protocols and collaboration with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and enhance maritime safety and security. #MultiplanNigeria #Maritime #OffshoreTransport #MarineIndustry #Seafarers #PortOperations #MaritimeSafety #SecurityEscortServices #MaritimeSecurity

Interesting discussions, great spirit and strong commitment to work together for the benefit of aviation @icao Paris Air Law Treaty Workshop. I was able to share some of our experiences on the ratification of the Beijing instruments of 2010 on Suppression of unlawful acts and seizure in aviation, and of the Montreal Protocol of 2014 on unruly passengers. I also addressed the issue of Cybersecurity, and how the Beijing instruments and the new European Cybersecurity rules, both NIS2 Directive and aviation specific regulations, address the same challenges but from different angles. The Beijing instruments are adopted for the purposes of a global common understanding on the criminalization, penalization and extraditability of persons engaged in unlawful acts, whereas the other rules are addressed to the aviation industry in order to recognize and manage the risks. #ICAO #Traficom #StrongerTogether
