Thank you to everyone who who joined our event at the Regional Climate Foundations Pavillion at COP29. The event explored how to accelerate climate action through a Global Citizens' Assembly for COP30 and beyond and highlights included: 🌟 A timely reminder by Diego Casaes ( Climate Emergency Collaboration Group ) that "inclusion shouldn't be a [tick] box exercise" and that the "the focus of inclusion should be to elevate the political risk of not acting". 🌟 A powerful observation by Alice de Moraes Amorim Vogas (Government of Brazil) that "at the end of the day, regardless of how we [make] decisions, change happens from the ground up. [This is what] we need to bring to the COP process" so "it's key to take a territorial approach". 🌟 An insightful statement by Leonildes Nazar (Institute for Climate and Society): "what drives people to take action is not policies, it's how they connect and how they feel" followed by a vital question: "How do we build hope and belonging?" Thank you to all of our panellists for their contributions, to Noora Firaq 🇬🇧 🇲🇻 (Climate Outreach) for moderating the event, and to The African Climate Foundation, Energy Foundation China, European Climate Foundation, Iniciativa Climática de México, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, Tara Climate Foundation and ViriyaENB for hosting us! 🎤 Honored to have been interviewed at COP29 to discuss critical issues around #ClimateFinance, #LossAndDamage, and #Adaptation. 🌍 Our conversation emphasized the indispensable role of *youth engagement* and *stakeholder collaboration* in driving effective climate action. To tackle the climate crisis, we need intergenerational dialogue that brings together diverse perspectives for resilient, inclusive solutions. Implementation is key – it's not enough to set ambitious goals; we must work collectively to turn these into action on the ground. Let's continue pushing for transparent, accessible funding mechanisms that empower vulnerable communities and bring about transformative change. Grateful for the opportunity to spotlight youth voices in this global discussion. Together, we can build a sustainable future for all generations. 💪🏽🌱 #COP29 #YouthInClimate #ClimateAction #StakeholderEngagement #IntergenerationalDialogue #ClimateJustice #COP29Azerbaijan

Many individuals have inquired about my decision not to attend COP29 this year. The truth is, I have little interest in this conference because I don’t see it making a meaningful impact on the local population. My focus is on engaging directly with communities and finding viable solutions to the ongoing climate crisis at the grassroots level. Here are my firm recommendations: 1. Every country must establish a committee dedicated to organizing grassroots debates. 2. Annual local conferences should be held, where the government actively invites marginalized individuals to voice their concerns regarding climate change. 3. A regional conference on sustainability should take place every two years, allowing countries to exchange sustainable solutions proposed by local communities. 4. The COP should occur every five years, providing a platform for regional countries to present unified solutions during the conference. 5. Identifying potential investors to support these solutions before the next COP in five years is crucial. I am convinced that these recommendations will be far more effective than attending COP with little to no tangible results. In our fight for survival, there is no room for hypocrisy. #Sustainability #Climate #Innovation #grassroots #survival

Amplifying Action on Loss and Damage As we begin COP29, I reflect on the critical focus this year: addressing loss and damage—the severe impacts of climate change felt most acutely by vulnerable communities. SEEDS' recent membership in the Santiago Network strengthens our role in this space, connecting us with global expertise to support communities on the frontlines. Being part of the Santiago Network allows us to contribute actively to collaborative, data-driven approaches that aim to avert, minimize, and address loss and damage at local and national levels. This membership empowers us to leverage technical assistance and partnerships that turn advocacy into actionable outcomes. We hope to make COP29 a platform for amplifying the voices of those most affected and ensuring real, equitable solutions take centre stage. Let's push for ambitious commitments and transformative action to help communities build resilience and recover from climate-induced losses. #LossAndDamage #COP29 #ClimateResilience #SantiagoNetwork #SEEDS #ClimateAction #Equity Santiago network COP29 Azerbaijan SEEDS PC: Gitartha Das
