Interesting update by the Competition and Markets Authority on the state of the UK's Cloud market. "The UK cloud market is booming, with revenues more than doubling in just three years, but the market is consolidating around Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure." "Microsoft captured about 60-70% of new customers in both 2021 and 2022. AWS, on the other hand, only managed to secure 20-30% of new customers during the same period." Will AI change this trend though going forward, or will it consolidate it? #aws #azure #gcp #oci

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud consider it important that customers' have the ability to move provider or adopt a #multicloud strategy. Interesting… And, #AWS and #GoogleCloud are in agreement, despite their different market positions, that egress fees are a non-issue. Amazingly interesting… I wonder if you think the same? #Azure #Cloud #Cloudcomputing

Multi-cloud strategy now makes more sense. Lack of technical interoperability however could still make it hard to move data between cloud providers.

Hurray for Google starting a positive trend, and now AWS is doing the same with not forcing customers to pay cloud egress costs. https://lnkd.in/gxKabYep #technology #business #cloudcomputing

Google Cloud has just announced the removal of egress cost when you leave Google Cloud. It's a great step ahead to say to anyone to test it and adopt it. Or leave it at no cost But it's also a guardrail to avoid any mad cost increase (like BigQuery edition in 2023) A great 2 side blade! Which make Microsoft, without naming it, licence policy bleed! (or at least enlighten its unfair practices!) What will be the answer of the other Cloud Providers? https://lnkd.in/eJMEDRBZ

“Amazon’s cloud computing subsidiary AWS has revealed that it will allow customers to transfer their data out of its ecosystem with no so-called “egress fees” attached” My take: Microsoft will follow suit. I’m seeing a change in approach to public cloud, from public cloud is the only answer, to the more nuanced, align the workload with the best computing/storage platform. Key to have an enterprise strategy to ensure you keep it as simple as possible. #publiccloud

#cloud #google #data Google is taking a bold step, other public cloud providers #micorsoft and #aws should also consider eliminating egress charges. https://lnkd.in/gVNQXt6M

☁️ Microsoft has announced it will allow unrestricted free data transfers out of its Azure cloud ecosystem for customers looking to switch cloud providers. 📅 The move comes after fellow cloud giants Google and AWS announced they would be scrapping egress fees earlier in 2024. All three appear to be in doing so in preparation for the upcoming European Data Act, which looks to clamp down on vendor-lock in stifling competition in the cloud market. ITPro's Solomon Klappholz explores the latest changes and how this could affect customers. #Microsoft | #Cloud | #Azure

Be interesting to see CMA’s outcome on commercial practices of hyperscalers, but AWS have a point in this article. On Prem is an alternative and therefore competition is strong. You only get into a “difficult to exit” situation if you don’t think through and cost the cloud properly at the outset. https://lnkd.in/eTtKBbPf
AWS says enterprises are moving back on-prem – but does cloud repatriation really threaten hyperscalers?
