Multitasking at its best. Exit Five live event on the screen, cookie dough in progress. I can never engage my brain in two things - being on the call with a person and building a deck in the back - but I can listen and bake.

Multitasking is a lie we love to believe. 93% of us think we are super productive. But in reality, multitasking kills productivity. It reduces your efficiency and limits growth. It hides your true potential. Picture this: you're preparing your gourmet meal while glued to your phone. You feel in control until… Disaster strikes! Your masterpiece is now charcoal. Next time the multitasking bug bites, Focus only on one task until you finish. You’ll see how your output's quality improved 69x.

So true Alexis Ohanian! Research from Stanford University has shown we are more creative on our feet (linked here: https://lnkd.in/gGbDY3NR). I encourage my team to try to get up, walk, and take a break, especially if they’re feeling stuck or uninspired. I do this often myself and have found that the best conversations happen during walk-and-talks and the best ideas can come to you at any moment. My current team is completely distributed, so we can't just grab each other and go for a walk (different locations! different time zones!), but on my walks I'll capture my thoughts in a voice memo, come back to it later, or and share it with the team and catch up on the ones they've shared. Whether it’s in the middle of a run, driving to pick up the kids, or just taking a good old fashioned walk around the neighborhood, I’ve found the convenience of voice (supercharged with being able to send a transcript to ChatGPT!) to be a game changer for productivity during these times away from the keyboard. Are you spending enough time on your feet to move your brain? When a great idea strikes while you’re outside and moving, what do you do to make sure it’s not lost? #VoiceTechnology #WorkLifeBalance #CarbonVoice #DigitalWellness #VoiceMemo
Spending 10+ hours at a desk a day, the likelihood of losing focus often and being unproductive is *HIGH* My tip to counter this: get outside and move ⛰️ 🚶♂️

🕒 Sorry, no time to meet today! Back-to-back meetings all day: 9am-11am - Breakfast reflection 11am-1pm - Lunch planning 1pm-2pm - Lunch 2pm-4pm - Post-lunch reflection 4pm-6pm - Dinner planning Perhaps the above are not your back-to-back meetings, but you get the idea that a full calendar might not be the most productive. One reason we developed an automated scheduler: Arrangr.
