A song I can't stand This morning I saw a video talking about the lyrics of this song, because I have never liked it and so I wanted to understand more. This feeling of a place that is welcoming at first, but also the only solution, because it's night and it's the only hotel around. Then you get into it, get lured in by illusion and the portrait of friendliness that just serves the purpose of getting you trapped. There's entertainment and fun along the way, yet it all just ends in you being captured. You can never leave. And the song ends in even deeper unconsciousness. "the last thing I remembered...." so what happened afterwards? Did I lose my memory? And it doesn't end on that. There's a lingering at the end. The suffering gets prolonged by a. ghostly guitar solo and prolongs the painful feeling of being trapped with no escape. What is your impression of the song? Now after these explanations I can understand the meaning and the genius of the song capturing a time, a place, a way of living, a mindset, a generation. Even the guitar solo sounds different now, because I don't feel so trapped. It's actually quite brilliant. Now I wonder: what have I been listening to? The song or my own prejudices and ghosts? What does Hotel California mean for you and how do you like the song? #polymath #systemsthinking #songwriting #mindfulness #eagles #hotelcalifornia #personalgrowth Networking Café are uplifting conversations with polymaths. It has always told me about what kind of music you have to play to be able to afford to pull over into a motel when you are tired Doc.
It’s a classic ……. About being trapped in unconsciousness “ you can check out any time you like , but you can never leave “ …. Haha 😂 But You can escape ….. Cheers 🥂
The Eagles were one of the bands I grew up with, and clearly remember this album coming out. Musically speaking, it's very well-crafted! As a metaphor, the lyrics could be applied to human emotions across abroad spectrum of experiences.
"There are only two ways in which we can account for a necessary agreement of experience with the concepts of its objects: either experience makes these concepts possible or these concepts make experience possible." Immanuel Kant, "Critique of Pure Reason"

6mo"Hotel California" is one of the songs which I would like to listen to when I'm going to meet the The Big D. (perhaps a couple of days' earlier!) I first tasted it in 1978 during the Art's Festival of my college where I was an undergrad. A rock group from B'gluru was performing inside the college auditorium. Strangely enough, the lead singer was stuffed in a Kurtha-pyjama set and a lot us were dancing just outside the Audi around a bonfire. Please see the the rest of the comment below.
