3 Reasons explaining why your online growth stagnates: Marketing is underleveraged. 1) Allocating marketing budget for vanity metrics Advertising is only one of many marketing activities. Organizations are willing to spend 10’s of thousands of dollars into acquiring new users through digital advertising. Users will see an ad and click in a window of a few seconds. They then land on the website. They might browse multiple pages and spend minutes browsing. Organizations are then not willing to invest into building a website experience that converts these users. The gap between budget invested and customer time spent per medium is pretty clear. Does your organization realize the ad dollars are only worth something after someone converted on the the website? An ad conversion is worthless and only a vanity metric if it does not translate in revenue. 2) Having a spending manager instead of a marketing manager Managing ad campaigns is crucial, but it’s not the only marketing component. If you have experts or agencies managing channels, you need a team captain who masters the customer journey - the marketing manager. Marketing includes understanding the market, the product, the buying behavior of your customers, the ICP, etc. Influencing buying behavior is what the job is all about. And you can’t influence behavior without first observing and understanding it. 3) You don't know what you sell and what your customers buy People buy progress in their lives, solutions to problems, and things like convenience. The buying decisions happen at a point of rising action. Marketing needs to address the context when the customers are in the rising action. All this corporate language and industry jargon does not help. Meet the customers where they are and speak a language that is familiar to them. And speak to them, not at them.

I always check our PPC performance monthly to see if any campaigns are spending yet have no conversion or sales. These are the "PPC BLEEDERS". It's very important to turn off these campaigns so we can have a proper budget allocation and improve the Account Profit Margin. I always check campaigns that are 10 clicks above but 0 sales.
