If partner managers lived in ancient Rome, they would be an Anteamblo. An anteamblo was someone who was hired to clear a path in the direction that their boss was trying to get to within the city. Anteamblo’s made their boss’s life easier. Anteamblo’s would go ahead of their boss to make sure the right people were positioned to meet with their boss and discuss business & politics. Anteamblo’s would distribute and communicate messages to drive favor and attention for their boss. Because Anteamblo’s went ahead of their boss, much of the work and problems the Anteamblo’s solved weren’t seen by their boss. And that’s the point. There are so many things partner managers have to do in order to create an ecosystem within their industry that helps their company achieve its goals. And in the short-term, your senior leadership team and the rest of your company may not fully understand the work you put in. But keep clearing the path ahead of your company. Keep solving problems. Be a servant leader. Because whether you stay at your current company or not, the one who clears the path for others ultimately controls the direction of the path. #partnerships

Looking at the lessons learnt! I have been in the external affairs and international relations role for almost 20 years now. This feels like a good moment to take a look at milestones and think about the key lessons I've learnt. ➡NO GREAT TEAMS AND COLLEAGUES, NO SUCCESS And the more you take on executive roles, the more you rely on your teams and their performance. ➡PATIENCE IS EVERYTHING And lasting achievements often stem from steady, sustained effort rather than short bursts of activity. Projects worth pursuing require time and dedication. To be an effective manager, it is essential to maintain a strong commitment to long-term success, placing importance on fundamental strategies rather than temporary fads. ➡VIEW MISTAKES AS CHANCES TO LEARN AND GROW It hasn't been smooth sailing - I've had my fair share of setbacks and screw-ups. But I've learned that these moments are super important for personal growth. It's not about never making mistakes, but about learning from them and getting better each time. ➡ OR just watch that uncle-nephew tennis scene from "A Good Year" with amazing Russel Crowe and Marion Cotillard to get a better idea 😊 ➡ENJOY THE RIDE Don't let the stress of work make you forget about the moments that bring you happiness. To have a satisfying career, it's important to celebrate achievements, share laughter, and appreciate milestones. And it applies to both life and business. Only real relationships based on respect and honesty last through tough times. Last week, I had the pleasure of leading the incredible team of dedicated professionals and hilarious human beings which make up MENA Rights Group through what I can only describe as a transformative team retreat. I say transformative as much for me as for them. Seeing their courage in sharing and connecting, diving deep into their challenges and dreams, focusing as seriously on their mental health and team-work as they do on the crucial documentation and human rights work they do... It was inspirational, deeply gratifying, and strengthened me in my certainty that what the approach of combining "inner work" (team-collaboration, boundary setting, self-leadership, conflict and tension work, communication, etc) with the "outer work" (strategy, structuring, roles and responsibilities, impact measurement, etc) we have at Purpose+Motion is a key ingredient to building sustainable, regenerative organisations which have massive impacts on the global issues we are facing. #ProudCoach #Transformation #Retreats

In my line of work it’s relatively easy to get a job, but it’s hard to make a career. I’m proud of the teams we’re building in Australia for all the right reasons. Some of this crew below have been with me since the start and some will be with me til the end. I am truly blessed. Some things I wish I knew earlier in my career. 1. Chase the harder work it’s more rewarding and you will develop skills faster 2. Work for people that inspire you and have skills that you aspire to achieve 3. Don’t worry about money. If you’re highly skilled and valued money will follow you 4. Great leaders work with great people. Your network is your greatest gift 5. Have fun! seriously playful is our approach, work is hard enough 6. Lead by example. Never make someone do something you wouldn’t/ couldn’t do yourself, this includes behaviours! 7. Share your work experiences with the world. It can open all new and exciting possibilities 8. Enjoy the process, don’t rush your way to the top. Remember be careful what you wish for.. it’s not all sunshine’s and rainbows
