Sustainability is ingrained in our processes. No pun intended. As we celebrate World Environment Day, let's pause and reflect. 🌱 From the food we eat to the products we use, our choices have a profound impact on the health of the planet. That's why, at Benexia, we've made it our mission to prioritize #sustainability in everything we do. From our zero-waste production processes to our reliance on solely rainwater for agriculture, we're committed to reducing our environmental #footprint every step of the way. Regenerative agriculture is a holistic approach that nourishes both the land and the communities that depend on it. We ensure that every #chia seed we source preserves the soil it grows in. 🌎 Take our chia oil, for example. Extracted through cold-pressing and without the use chemicals or solvents, it leaves behind a nutrient-rich residue that we don't let go to waste. Instead, we micro-mill it to obtain fiber and protein, taking advantage of the nutritional value of every seed and minimizing waste in the process! #zerowaste #regenerativeagriculture #chiaoil #Benexia

Breaking down the path to sustainable food systems through #RegenerativeAgriculture Today, our #food system is in crisis. Not only does the food sector contribute to one-third of global #GHGemissions, but it also drives nutrient runoff, synthetic chemical use, and significant #biodiversity loss. These environmental impacts stem largely from agricultural practices, where over 70% of emissions occur “behind the farm gate.” For corporates and consumers, this broken system presents both a challenge and a unique opportunity to rebuild with sustainable solutions. But regenerative agriculture offers a path forward. It is estimated that if just under half of the land that is currently available for regenerative agriculture were to transition, it could result in a total reduction of up to 23 gigatonnes of CO2e by 2050. Supporting regenerative agriculture delivers extensive benefits for both companies and farmers. Companies can achieve measurable sustainability goals, reducing Scope 3 emissions and increasing resilience across their #supplychains. Farmers can benefit financially from #carboncredits and ecosystem service payments while adopting long-term, resilient practices. Together, these benefits drive a shift towards a healthier food system and foster positive environmental change. Agreena https://lnkd.in/dZFTVivw

🌍 From Waste to Growth: The Circular Economy in Agriculture 🌱 At Grupo Garay Agro, we're turning waste into value by reusing animal blood from the meat industry to create eco-friendly fertilizers. This sustainable approach aligns perfectly with the circular economy model, where resources are repurposed, reducing waste and environmental impact. 🔄 Why Blood-Based Fertilizers? Natural Nutrients: Blood is rich in nitrogen and amino acids—key for healthy crops. Sustainable Sourcing: We reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers by using an existing by-product. Better Yields: Our products, like Power Blood and Hemoprom, enhance crop quality and productivity. Lower Waste: Less waste going to landfills while improving soil health. By closing the loop between industries, we support sustainable agriculture and help farmers thrive while protecting the planet. 🌱🌾 Join us in driving the future of farming through innovation and sustainability. Together, we can grow better, more responsibly. 💚 #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Agriculture #Innovation #GrupoGarayAgro

In honour of World Water Day which falls on 22 March 2024, let us consider stakeholders from the textile value chain further downstream who are involved in sourcing materials, namely, cotton. To meet their respective commitments, sourcing teams of brands are increasingly prioritizing the role that water footprint plays in terms of clothes manufacturing. In this case, many of them focus on techniques that are less water intensive such as the avoidance of dyes, amongst others. While other stakeholders are increasingly focusing on the production practices that are carried out to produce the sourced material. In this regard, let’s consider the role of regenerative agricultural practices in cotton production. Regenerative agriculture practices aim to optimize water use efficiency and reduce water losses, while also improving the quality and availability of water resources. This is achieved by carrying out practices such as crop rotation, reduced tillage. This benefits the local community as the equilibrium of the local ecosystem is maintained from ensuring water sustainability. In the context of this year's World Water Day theme, 'Leveraging Water for Peace,' it is even more important that communities work towards managing water as a resource that is essential to their livelihoods. The Alliance of Cotton & Textile Stakeholders on Regenerative Agriculture (ACRE) focuses on mainstreaming the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices in the cotton value chain. The Centre for Responsible Business, Solidaridad Asia and regenagri have joined hands to create a platform to #promoteregenagripractices in #Cotton and to educate and engage with diverse stakeholders. 🌾 Inspired by the Land: Regenerative Farming in Action 🌱 Last week, my son and I took a step further into regenerative practices by making biochar—a natural, soil-enhancing material created by burning organic waste in low oxygen. Shout out to our mentor and friend Dougie Dawson of Feorh for taking us on this journey and for giving us a chance to see firsthand how biochar aligns with the regenerative principles championed by visionaries like Allan Savory and Joel Salatin. Biochar perks: 🔹 Retaining water and nutrients to nourish the soil. 🔹 Supporting microbial life to enhance biodiversity. 🔹 Sequestering carbon, tackling climate change. 🔹 Enhancing the potential for nutrient dense and delicious produce. Hands-on learning is huge for us at Field Food. It deepens our connection to the land and our ability to offer the best regenerative, biodynamic, and organic food experiences to our community. Producers-Retailers-Consumers: Together, we’re cultivating a future where the land heals, and people thrive.
