Long-term value beats short-term gains. In this episode of Unlearn, host Barry O'Reilly interviews Michael A. Morell, Founder & Managing Partner at Riviera Partners and former Technology Advisory Board member at Bridgewater Associates, to explore how building relationships over time serves as the cornerstone of long-term business success. Enterprise sales and strategic partnerships take time, much like growing any successful venture. Whether it’s nurturing a business or establishing trust, investing in long-term relationships requires patience. While these processes may feel slow, the payoffs are substantial, as sustained efforts result in deeper connections and more meaningful opportunities. Sharing insights, offering advice, and providing support—even when you’re not expecting immediate gains—helps build a strong foundation of trust. This long-term strategy often positions you as a go-to resource when key decisions or opportunities arise. Building these relationships often means playing the long game, as the most effective connections are formed over time. Whether it’s sharing articles, offering a helping hand, or simply being available, staying engaged with your network fosters trust and lasting partnerships. 🎧 Tune in to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/gQEuZ6WC _________________________________ Download my free innovation map I use to help companies like Google and Nike figure out the gap between their current state and desired state. Which one should I Pick? #NormsInCorperateWorld_NCW By Official Debs Episode 15 How I Balanced Career Growth with Building a Business📝 In my recent discovery, the lines between career and business are increasingly blurred. We are no longer content with climbing the corporate ladder; we now seek to venture into entrepreneurship, either as a side hustle or a full-fledged business person. Are you on this table? Gather here… 😉 Here’s the Spark For as long as I can remember, I had always dreamed of climbing the corporate ladder, landing that perfect job role in a dynamic company. And for years, that was my path. I worked diligently, pursued betterment, and was proud of the responsibilities, rewards and awards I have earned. But one day in early 2021, an idea took root in my mind that would change everything: I wanted to create something of my own- A BUSINESS. Starting a business wasn't a radical departure from my career; it was a natural extension of my interests. But like many professionals, I faced a dilemma: Should I pause my career to build my business, or could I do both simultaneously? How I found the Balance In the early stages of building my business in the middle of 2021, I quickly realized that managing both a career and a startup felt like being stretched in two directions. The demands of a full-time job are non-negotiable, and growing a business requires the same, if not more, energy and commitment. The first step toward balance was understanding that it was not about dividing time equally but prioritizing effectively. I needed to get real about what I was capable of handling. I started blocking out time before and after work hours to focus on my business. I will work overnight to meet up with deadlines. Early mornings became my strategy sessions, while evenings were for executing the ideas I had brainstormed. Weekends became the sacred time for growth. And yes, it was exhausting at times, but the energy that came from building something I truly believed in kept me going. Continue in the next post... ✍️ ✍️ ✍️
