Couldn’t agree more with this summary, as this article notes certification has been discussed and debated over the years with lots of good practice via various other frameworks, charters, principles and standards. We need to come together as a community to make TRE Certification a reality #standards #trust #compliance #safehavens #TRE
Where do we go next with regards to accreditation and certification of Trusted Research Environments/Secure Data Environments? After our blog series on #SATRE, Robert Bryce (COO) takes a look at where we are now before asking what's next in both certification and delivery. https://lnkd.in/eDzyKuzN #DREnotDIY #trustedresearchenvironment #digitalresearchenvironment #tre #dre #sde #fairdata #trusteddata #fair #interoperability #datagovernance #dataaccess #informationgovernance #informationsecurity #infosec #datamanagement #datastandards #iso #hitrust #nhs

My philosophy about data people is pretty simple: we're ALL data people (even if we don't know it yet). We're using data all the time in our work lives and personal lives, but we often can't center #data in decision making as well as we should. I was thrilled when GovLoop reached out to interview me for this piece: Using Data to Inform Policy. This piece is part of a bigger data resource: A Fresh Look at Data where they offer resources for data governance, #dataculture building, and #policymaking. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/ewu3Fzgh And if you're doing this work with your state or municipality, don't be a stranger! Government data culture is not going to build itself!

I agree with philosophy and would even extend that to spatial data. A map may not always be the final product, but it is usually a valuable yet underutilized tool in the decision making/policy making process.

In the world of research data, we often crash against different definitions of similar terms - what do we mean by "active data", "archive" or "digital infrastructure"? Therefore, I'm glad to see CODATA and Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) have taken the lead in defining some of these terms https://lnkd.in/eUcKqtBU Congrats Laura Molloy and others involved. Maybe also of interest to Joanne Yeomans and 4TU.ResearchData

🏅 What a fantastic decision by the Market Research Society (MRS) to honour the triple-s team for their great work! 🏅 https://lnkd.in/deGyrE2i 👉 Please also see our respectful nod to all involved here (April 2024): https://lnkd.in/dnkUG8mq where we celebrate their marvellous victories during the file-based era. We couldn’t agree more with Jane Frost CBE’s comments that: “This world is meant to be increasingly connected, but frequently we deal with systems that are anything but, the Triple S standard provides a very useful contribution to allowing data transfers to be made and it is right that we acknowledge such an important contribution to the work of our sector.” 👍 Frustratingly, the core challenge the triple-s team overcame with files, has risen its ugly head again in the form of API definitions. Chaos rules once more. In using today’s APIs for survey data, we take a step forward, only to take two back. APIs which should ease connection, are making it harder to connect. Can today’s developers unite, like the file-based implementors did years ago, and banish the slippery foe of chaos once and for all? TSAPI is the Standard for Transferring Survey data via API. Free-to-all, forever. Endorsed by Association for Survey Computing (ASC) 🙏 It would be an incredible boost if you'd consider sharing our page with your networks and supporting the TSAPI Initiative please ESOMAR Market Research Society (MRS) The Research Society #datascience #MarketResearch #MRX #Insights #Surveys #MarTech #ResTech #DataScience #Analytics #AI Debrah Harding Jerome Sopocko Tim Brandwood

My week (err, month) in digital social housing. We do talk, a lot, about data at the moment. Maybe too much, at the expense of action. For the first time in a while I’ve had chance to reflect on what we are trying to achieve: starting with data governance, improving data literacy and getting better data utilisation… or as we often say, being data driven. Anyway I’ve tried to stitch it all together, if only for my own sanity! #data #digital #socialhousing #governance

This is not something new 📰 not even something I didn't write about here ⌨ , but nevertheless a question we usually face when presenting #DataSpaces 💾 ➡ How #DataSpaces relate to the European Commission #DataAct? ⬅ I will try to summarise here my personal view 👀 on the most relevant extracts of the #DataAct 📃 when it comes to #DataSpace design and requirements ✅ ⏱ Just time to read one chapter? 📖 Then go to #ChapterVIII 🔍 Chapter VIII of the Data Act is a pivotal component shaping the future of data spaces and #Interoperability 🌐 By emphasizing #Standards and interoperability, it lays the foundation for seamless #DataExchange within and between data spaces, facilitating collaboration and innovation across diverse sectors 🏭 🔄 #Interoperability is essential for the fluid movement of data, enabling disparate systems and platforms to communicate effectively 🤝 With common standards and #Protocols, data spaces can function as interconnected ecosystems, fostering synergy and amplifying the value of shared data assets 💎 📈 By mandating essential requirements for participants in data spaces, Chapter VIII ensures that data can flow freely while upholding #Privacy and #Security standards 🛡️ This promotes #Trust among stakeholders and encourages broader participation, driving the growth of vibrant data ecosystems 🌱 🌍 The emphasis on interoperability extends beyond data spaces to encompass #DataProcessing services providers 💻 By harmonizing standards and specifications, the Data Act streamlines data exchange processes, reducing barriers to entry and promoting competition in the market 💹 And what about other chapters? 📚 Other #DataSpace related topics covered 💻 Chapter III lays down rules for mandatory business-to-business #DataSharing, ensuring fair and reasonable terms for data holders and recipients 🤝 🤝 Chapter IV addresses unfair #Contractual terms, protecting businesses, particularly SMEs, against exploitative practices 💼 🛡️ Ensuring #DataSecurity, Chapter VII addresses unlawful third-country government access, safeguarding data stored within the EU 🔒 📜 Looking ahead, the Data Act's #Enforcement mechanisms, outlined in Chapter IX, ensure compliance and accountability ⚖️ 🌍 By establishing a #SingleMarket for data, the EU aims to lead in the global data economy 🚀 With the Data Act as a cornerstone, Europe 🌍 embraces data-driven innovation while safeguarding privacy and promoting fair competition So, what is the answer to the question at the beginning? 🤔 #DataSpaces are THE WAY to implement the #DataAct, as long as they: ✅ Implement #Interoperable and #Scalable technologies 🛠 ✅ Are built on top of #Standards 📄 ✅ Create #Open and #Trusted ecosystems 🏔 Would you like to have your say on how all this is built? 🔊
