AI foundation models can be thought of as a new class of infrastructure supporting social and economic activity. We built roads, railways, airports and tunnels to support industry and grow the economy last century. We'll keep building these things but this century economic activity will be increasingly supported by AI foundation models. What are they? Read our latest report.
Researchers at Australia’s national science agency are “bullish” on the potential productivity gains to be had from developing foundation AI models in Australia, and say that building sovereign capability should be seriously considered. I comment below on the passing of yesterday's #us sponsored resolution at the #unitednations on the need for a common approach given the potential benefits and dangers of #artificialintelligence. As with much #un activity its significance is largely symbolic though it shows that everybody is waking up to the importance of the latest #technology revolution. What concrete regulations for #ai America and the #uk eventually settle for will have more of an impact.
