I comment below on the passing of yesterday's #us sponsored resolution at the #unitednations on the need for a common approach given the potential benefits and dangers of #artificialintelligence. As with much #un activity its significance is largely symbolic though it shows that everybody is waking up to the importance of the latest #technology revolution. What concrete regulations for #ai America and the #uk eventually settle for will have more of an impact.

As MLex has closely followed this, #SouthKorea launched yesterday its much-touted presidential committee to oversee all artificial intelligence policy issues and declared a nationwide drive to become a global leader in #AI (#artificialintelligence), as South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an "all-out nationwide drive" to achieve that goal. A presidential aide unveiled later that investment pledges made by the private sector amounted to some 65 trillion won ($48.85 billion) over a four-year period, in addition to a 2 trillion won public-private joint project to establish a national AI computing center. https://lnkd.in/gu8z_hRa

As the US and China enter a critical phase in the AI competition, their differing priorities create both hurdles and opportunities for dialogue. While the US pushes for broader AI integration in government, China tightens regulations to align tech with its political goals. Efforts to find common ground on AI governance reveal the complexity of these discussions, emphasizing the importance of unofficial channels for potential collaboration. Navigating this rivalry effectively is crucial, not just for bilateral relations, but for setting a shared framework to address the global implications of AI technology. #US #China #AI #thefutureisnow #hellotomorrow #government #AIgovernance #technology
