Curious about the tech behind real-time data processing at scale? My latest article dives into how RocksDB, a robust key-value store, powers Apache Kafka for high-throughput applications. Here’s why RocksDB is essential in Kafka: 1. Manages stateful stream processing — keeps track of events to ensure accurate results. 2. Powers fast, local reads — ideal for data-heavy operations. 3. Enables complex operations like joins and aggregations — crucial in finance, e-commerce, and gaming. 4. Supports custom state management — from session tracking to in-game currency tracking. But RocksDB isn’t limited to Kafka alone! With its LSM tree architecture and multi-threaded capabilities, it’s also a go-to choice in many other distributed systems. In the article, I unpack: - Real-world use cases - Code examples - Best practices and pitfalls Dive into the full story here 👉 https://lnkd.in/geMVbyR6 Let me know your thoughts on RocksDB’s role in stream processing! #RocksDB #ApacheKafka #DataEngineering #DistributedSystems

Was at Kissflow past weekend An amazing insight on Apache Kafka and Apache Flink by Jegan Nagarajan from Confluent. Few key points 🚀 Apache Kafka: - Open source event streaming platform. - Capabilities(publish and subscribe->store->process) Kafka can connect to any database. - Events are immutable append only, read using offset. - IN sync replica(node communication for fault Tolerance) - Ability to replay the data back in time! Apache Flink: - Open source, durable batch processor. - Complex event processing (detect patterns and predict patterns) Flink closely integrates with kafka. - Stream processing enables users to filter, join and enrich streams on the fly to drive greater data reuse. - Core building blocks(streams, time, state, snapshots) flink power. - Streams(pipeline, enrich, replay) - Time(progress, wait, timeout, fast forward, replay) - State(store, buffer, cache, model, grow, explore) - Snapshots(backup, version, fork, time travel, restore) - Flink has layered API. - Levels(process function->Datastream API->Table API->stream sql) - Popular (sustainability, fault tolerance, language flexible, unified processing)
