The second event of the leap day was the #XenaTechSummit 🚀, brilliantly organized by WeAreXena. A special thanks go to Navdeep Chana 💜 for inviting me to participate in this inspiring event. I'd like to highlight a couple of talks that were particularly insightful for me and sparked a deep conversation with my inner voice that evening. Firstly, I found the keynote speech by Rija Javed very engaging, where she shared her experiences as an engineering lead. I resonated with the idea that as leaders, we should act as unblockers, taking on a wide variety of tasks that may extend beyond our official titles. The second talk that struck a chord with me was "Opening Doors From Inside" by Anna Ott, focusing on bringing diversity into companies by reimagining the hiring process. Including diversity as a conscious choice during recruitment and understanding your hiring pool are crucial aspects. Plus, I came away with a super nice deck of cards with hiring tips 😁. Another talk I found compelling was by the dynamic Anna J McDougall, discussing "Empowering Junior Engineers for Technical Leadership". While hiring experienced engineers is important, nurturing junior talent is equally vital. Reflecting on our own junior experiences, many can agree it was a time of intense dedication to learning and growth. Let's value and support our junior engineers, recognizing their worth. #WeAreXena #WomenInTech #InspiringWomen
Fully agree! Glad to hear about an engineering session I couldn't catch.
