You might not expect to find yourself in rugged, rocky mountains just outside of one of Spain’s largest metropolitan cities, but that is exactly where you’ll find Bodegas Marañones. Welcome to the foothills of the Sierra de los Gredos region of the DO Vinos de Madrid, and to Bodegas Marañones, a setting of exceptional scenic richness and a benchmark for the region that has developed a cult-like status among wine enthusiasts for its vibrant Garnachas and bewitching Albillo Reals. Today, we’ll fly over Bodegas Marañones’ bush vines of Garnacha and Albillo Real in soils of slate, granite, and schist. Farmed organically, these “heroic vineyards,” 30 to 70 years in age, are planted in remote areas at altitudes of 2,000 to 3,000 feet. Here the terrain not only pushes the vines of Garnacha and Albillo Real to their limits, but also those tending the vines that can only access the area by mule. But while it may not be easy, the quality of the fruit that results from this continental climate region is second to none.

🍷 Wine & Real Estate? Yes, please! From the Old World to the New World, vineyard real estate is one of the hottest categories in the luxury portfolio. Vineyard properties are finding buyers in all the famous—as well as the lesser-known—wine regions of the world. From the châteaux of Bordeaux and the Quintas of the Douro, the bodegas of Rioja, and villas of Chianti to the estates of Mendoza, Napa and the Willamette valleys, wherever the land is devoted to wine production and wineries, the vineyard estate is king. The vineyard property, the winery and its wine are an investment and a legacy. The intrinsic value of a vineyard is its terroir, its real estate. The journey from vine to wine begins with terroir: the interaction of soil, light, weather, drainage, elevation, and other environmental factors that give each wine its distinctive character. But terroir is just one of the considerations facing the potential buyer, owning a vineyard is more than a lifestyle or a business, it’s a labor of love, a daily encounter with the earth and the elements. With your own vineyard estate, the wine trail ends at home! #InternationalRealEstate #VineyardRealEstate #DeniseBenzaquen #InternationalLiving #RealEstateInvestments #HighYield #RealEstateExpert #PropertyInvestments

The oldest finds of wine production have been found along the east shores of the Black Sea and dates back 8 000 years. Since then the Egyptians, the Greek and the Romans have passed the gift of wine making further and further west in Europe, to present day. Nowadays, wine is produced indoors, and an indoor space can be seen as “a controlled environment” – separated from nature’s alterations and key for making success. However, producing wine inside puts firm requirements on the indoor climate. In our latest blog, our expert, Luca Zordan, Managing Director Swegon Italy, explains what an optimal indoor climate solution for a winery can look like. https://lnkd.in/di32BXy4 #feelgoodinside

While Port and Madeira are staples of the fortified wine market and well known even by non-drinkers, an historical wine made in boutique amounts just a few miles west of Lisbon is almost invisible to consumers. It's called Carcavelos. The first records of a wine actually produced in the Carcavelos region date from the 15th century. And even though the demarcated region of Carcavelos is one of the smaller Portuguese DOCs (Controlled Denomination of Origin), it wasn't always the case. It had mostly disappeared due to a number of factors related to land under acreage, disease and falling out of favour. Today, thanks to recovery efforts and events, it represents another wine tourism opportunity for Portugal's fortified wines market. #Portugal #carcavelos #fortifiedwines #culturalheritage #winetourism Anna Drozdowska Chef Fatmata Binta Rebecca Mackenzie, MA (Global Leadership), CDME Jane Connelly Niki Zoli Caroline Couret Caroline Morrow luisa ambrosio Luiza Ambrosio Sofia Fonseca Marco Martins

In the 18th century, the Marquis of Pombal introduced a pioneering vineyard classification system based on wine quality, influencing land value and ensuring the Porto wine’s reputation for excellence. The 19th and 20th centuries were periods of great challenges but also modernization. The phylloxera plague devastated vineyards across Europe, and the Douro was no exception. The response included restructuring vineyards with resistant rootstocks, safeguarding viticulture continuity. Simultaneously, technological innovations in winemaking and vineyard management contributed to raising the Douro wines’ quality standards. The Alto Douro Wine Region’s classification as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001 acknowledged the region’s exceptional universal value. This status celebrates the extraordinary cultural landscape shaped by human activity and highlights the importance of preserving the winemaking heritage. Since then, international interest in the region has grown, with a significant increase in tourism and investment in wineries.

Ever wondered why wine connoisseurs whisper the name "Wachau Valley" with reverence? Let's uncork the truth about this Austrian gem. Nestled along the Danube River, the Wachau Valley is not just another picturesque European locale; it's a viticultural legacy. Despite its acclaim, some still hold onto outdated notions that the region is inaccessible or exclusively for the elite oenophile. Let's clarify a few things. Firstly, the idea that Wachau's wines are only for the well-versed is as misleading as a corked Riesling. Yes, the wines here are exceptional, but they're crafted for everyone to appreciate. The vintners are passionate educators, eager to share their knowledge with visitors of all levels of wine expertise. Secondly, the perception that a trip to Wachau is complicated or requires intricate planning is far from reality. As a travel agent specializing in luxury small group travel and river cruises, I can attest to the seamless experience that awaits. A river cruise through the Wachau Valley offers an intimate, relaxed journey through rolling vineyards and medieval towns, with the convenience of unpacking just once. Lastly, let's address the myth that Wachau is solely about the wine. While the Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are undoubtedly stars, the region's cultural landscape is rich with monasteries, castles, and markets, offering a full-bodied experience beyond the vine. If you're looking to explore the Wachau Valley, whether it's on a river cruise or a small ship ocean cruise that docks nearby, the key is to embrace the journey with an open mind and palate. Ready to raise a glass to adventure? Share your thoughts or questions below, and let's start planning your next unforgettable sip and sail experience. #WachauValley #WineTravel #RiverCruises schedule a call

Revitalising Pokolbin: The Cedar Mill Hunter Valley Located on the corner of McDonalds and Broke roads in Pokolbin within the tourist node, the ambitious development seeks to harness the region's viticultural heritage, transforming a 41-hectare site into a vibrant hub for local and international visitors. What is proposed is a multi-faceted development encompassing a museum, convention centre and tourism clusters. Each cluster is designed to offer unique experiences, from exploring the rich history of winemaking in the museum cluster to hosting large-scale events and conference in the convention cluster. The tourism cluster aims to support the principal uses by offering a range of activities, including wine tasting, dining and retail experiences. Historically, the site has been vacant pasture for about 50 years, with recent investigations confirming that the soil profile is not considered to be prime viticultural land and offers extremely limited capacity for wine grape production. Our latest development journal edition will issued on Monday morning. Subscribe here to stay informed: https://lnkd.in/gzNEX4k5

The "buchette del vino" or wine windows are a cute feature of Florence that adds to the charm of this city. This one was the most elaborate that I saw, as some were very plain little wooden doors. It's a simple concept; knock on the window, wait for them to open, hand over £5 and get a glass of wine, then go on your merry way. It's the Italian version of buying a travelle r on a road trip. The windows can be found all over the city and originally, they would be located in a nobleman house to sell their wines, but you can also see them attached to restaurants such as this one. These windows meant that the wine seller didn't have to open a shop and therefore could avoid paying taxes. Fun fact: The windows are generally lower than "head height" not because they were a lot shorter back in the day but because they were built lower to help reduce the spread of the plague so that the customer and server wouldn't be face to face and breathing in each other's germy breath!
