I might have made the wrong choice Yesterday was a 22 hour on the road day, leaving the house at 5:30 AM and hitting Batley, Leeds, Bradford, Liverpool, Leeds (again), Harrogate and eventually back to Huddersfield at around 3 AM. I have originally planned 2 events, but ended up to 4. Or maybe 3 and a half. I'll start with missing out on most of the Silicon Yorkshire event at Carousel Bar Leeds and while Jonny Clark was the best host, as always, for the Startup Grind, and the pitches were interesting, Silicon Yorkshire should have won the vote on the scale. Now, of course, I have met loads of people at Startup Grind, will post all about that soon, so it WAS a good event on it's own. There are always choices in life, events, business. I won't turn this into a business lesson, but for me it will be a decision standard for the future. You can only try your best at any given time, and if it's not enough, next time you can be sure it will be better. I got to Carousel Bar Leeds after all, just in time to see all the gang, obviously and have some good catch-ups and a good time with them, but that was towards the end of the day. More posts on the rest of the events soon to come, including the Startup Grind and what happened there. #CrazyDay #4Cities #Networking #Carousel #SiliconYorkshire #Events #Catchups #Connections #DayOut

I’d like to take a moment and celebrate just how bustling the Austin ecosystem is right now! Here are a few highlights of my recent trip: -The week started with a tour of Capital Factory. I made a new friend, Ms. Nina Shelat who was kind enough to give Jack Sawyer and I the run down of all the fun stuff that they have going on. An absolute must-see for anyone building in defense technology. Be sure to connect with Nina as she is great at guiding curiosity in the right direction. -I had a quality cup of coffee with Mr. José Luis Silva Vázquez at the Dux Capital Austin office. For all of my Latino founders with your heads down building—you should come up for some air and meet his team. They are putting Latino founders on the map and I am here for it all day long. -Pizza, cocktails, and REAL business lessons from people who have lived it. The Networking Austin team held an event where I had the pleasure to meet Cyril Allgeier, III, Steve Dush, and Blyden Nartey. We talked about everything from mortgage lending, to the lack of CTO-centered networking in Austin, and what to expect when going from corporate life to startup life. By the way, if you know or are a CTO in Austin—be sure to link up with Cyril Allgeier, III as he is doing something special for y’all. Cough cough, Jack Sawyer. -Oh, here is where I take a break and say that Austin has a great nightlife. One of the must-see spots is The Dead Rabbit. If you happen to find yourself here, you should connect with Samantha Brown from Q-Branch. Sam was kind enough to give Jack and I a tour of their office space (conveniently located above Dead Rabbit might I add). If you are an International startup of any kind—you have to meet their team. -Antler VC opened up their co-working space to founders building cool stuff, and, boy oh boy, did I meet some cool people building cool stuff. Pooja Y. Patel is building a startup that gene-modifies mosquitoes to help control their populations in the wild, isn't that wild?! 👨🏻💻 Eddy Hernández is doing some really cool innovation in the waste management space. For my municipal government connections, please connect with him, especially in the RGV! He is doing something cool for y'all! James Oleen is building truly next-gen drone tech, he blew my mind with his cross-ocean drone vision, for my defense folks be sure to follow him as he is going to the top with this project! Johnathan Newman struck up a great conversation with Chris Lopez and I regarding AI assistants helping reduce the burden of content creation, huge! Antler team member Kelly LaBuff had an open office hour session and answered in real sincerity...which did not go unnoticed by me. Founders be sure to connect with her as she was dropping major gems all over the place. -If you want to knock out your fitness session and pitch all in one go, be sure to connect with Zeke Torres from Palm Venture Studios! He hosted an incredible Pitch and Run event here in Austin. (Pictured below)

Starting a new independent business is an exciting yet challenging journey. It’s tiring and can sometimes feel lonely when you’re setting everything up without a business partner to lean on. But despite the long hours and the weight of decision-making, the freedom to build something on your own terms makes it all worth it. Finding support networks like Independent Oxford is fantastic - they connect you with like-minded people, offer guidance, and remind you that you’re not really alone. It’s a blend of hard work, passion, community and gallons of coffee that keeps you moving forward. #thecluster #clusteroxford #indepenentoxford #indiebusiness #supportlocal #startuplife #smallbusiness #smallbusinessowner #entrepreneurjourney #indiebiz #summertownoxford #businesscommunity #startupsupport #localbusinessnetwork #oxfordbusiness

WalletHub has ranked the Town of Morrisville the No. 7 Best Small City for starting a business. Size matters when choosing a city in which to launch a startup. A city with a smaller population can offer a greater chance of success, depending on an entrepreneur’s personal preferences and the type of business they’re starting. The best cities can even help new businesses survive economic shocks such as pandemics or inflation. To determine the best small cities to start a business, WalletHub compared the business-friendliness of more than 1,300 small-sized cities. 🍺 Here I am, producing events for founders, real estate pros, and the Milwaukee community. Why? Not for myself: it's cost me a lot (debt), adds stress to my already stressful job, and most of my time ends in declination to my invites. So, why? It does good for people. Startup founders deserve recognition and they receive it. Young companies need resources and this is a path forward. 🌟 I've met a thousand people over calls, traveled the world, & raised capital. I can tell you, Wisconsin is struggling to support new businesses. There's really one way to fix this: culture. You need people to feel inspired, take risks, and understand industry / tech / entrepreneurship. The best way to cultivate those items: have conversations. 🧀 Without further ado, I'd like to see you at these Next Gen MKE events: - W(h)ine Night: https://lu.ma/wtdyyqq4 - UrbanTech Madison: https://lu.ma/g46dmhwr 💠 Join us in building something big!

Starting something new soon - "Southwest Enterprises" Here’s my story: A couple of months ago, I was on the brink of starting something new. The feelings were all too familiar - a mix of nervousness, excitement, and uncertainty. It reminded me of when I started IGC, and I realized that these feelings are universal, especially among entrepreneurs. My wife’s , Adriana De La Fuente, constant support has helped me stay strong throughout my journey. Fast forward to today, my new venture is taking shape. We’re focusing on supplying CO2 to businesses, a niche yet essential market. Our launch is slated for the next 2 weeks. If you’re reading this and know someone who constantly runs out of CO2 or needs it, I’d appreciate it if you could let me know through the form below. We are starting our focus in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. I’m committed to keeping my network updated about this new venture. Should you need more details, feel free to DM me. Next week, the Race to Revenue program at the IDEA Center at the University of Notre Dame is set to host a spectacular event showcasing the innovative projects and groundbreaking work of its founders – a dedicated group of student entrepreneurs who have been diligently developing their ideas into viable ventures. This event, called Venture Vibes, will be an opportunity to demonstrate just how much our founders have done over the summer, while also bringing together the university and South Bend communities to celebrate creativity, entrepreneurship, and the spirit of innovation. Date: July 25th at 2:30 pm Location: Studebaker Building The event is designed to provide a platform for the students to present the fruits of their summer efforts. Throughout the season, these innovators have been part of an intensive program that offers mentorship, resources, and a collaborative environment to help transform their ideas into impactful solutions. What to Expect Founder Presentations: Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the Founders as they pitch. Each presentation will delve into the problem being addressed, the innovative solution proposed, and the founder’s journey from concept to implementation. Networking Opportunities: after pitches, we'll gather in the lobby of the Studebaker Building for a casual Startup Happy Hour. This will bring together a diverse group of individuals, including industry experts, potential investors, and members of the Notre Dame community. This is an excellent opportunity for attendees to network, exchange ideas, and form valuable connections. Food and Drink: Catering will be provided by Frankies’ Tacos along with delicious beverages. We hope you can make it to both the pitches and happy hour, but please select only the programming you know you can attend! Once pitches begin, we will restrict access to avoid disruptions.
