Rolls-Royce announces investment in large engine assembly, test and shop visit capacity Rolls-Royce has announced it is investing in its assembly, test and shop visit capacity in the UK and Germany to address growing long-term demand for new civil large engines and improve customer aftermarket support services for its global Trent fleet. As outlined at last year’s Capital Markets Day, Rolls-Royce expects an annual increase of seven-nine percent of Rolls-Royce powered aircraft in service for the remainder of the decade and forecasts engine flying hours to reach 120 - 130% mid-term compared to 2019 levels. To prepare for this growth, Rolls-Royce is investing £55m and recruiting more than 300 front-line operations roles, split between its operations in Derby, UK, and Dahlewitz, Germany. About half of the investment and about two thirds of the jobs will be created in Derby. The investments include: Expansion of engine build capacity in Derby to deliver over 40% more new engines per year from 2025 – compared with average deliveries over the last ten years - and increase of services capacity. Utilisation of already existing engine test capability for civil large engines in Dahlewitz to support near term services demand before transitioning to assemble and test new Trent XWB-84 engines in 2026. #rollsroyce #TrentXWB84

🚨 Global Supply Chain Challenges: Rolls-Royce's Trent 1000 Bottleneck 🚨 Having one of my flights recently cancelled due to this issue, I thought I'd create a post to make others aware of these events. Rolls-Royce is facing major delays in servicing its Trent 1000 engines, used in Boeing 787 Dreamliner's ✈️. Airlines are struggling with grounded aircraft due to extended maintenance times. So, what's causing this? 🔧 The Causes: 1️⃣ Durability issues with the turbine blades have led to more frequent inspections. 2️⃣ Supply chain disruptions have made sourcing critical parts harder. 3️⃣ Skilled personnel shortages in engineering & maintenance are slowing down repairs. ⏳ How long will this last? Experts predict the issue will take 12-18 months to resolve. Rolls-Royce is working to address the bottlenecks, but without more skilled engineers and technicians, delays may continue. 👷♂️ Workforce development is key. Aerospace companies need to invest in training the next generation to meet rising demand and tackle future challenges. #Aerospace #RollsRoyce #SupplyChain #Aviation #TalentShortage #FutureMobility

“𝗡𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺... 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲.” —Alan Mulally, American aerospace engineer and manufacturing executive. He is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Ford Motor Company. ⚙ So very true but sadly in the case of UK Manufacturing, it still sometimes feels as if we are the "Ugly Duckling" despite these facts and statistics for 2023 published by Make UK: 👉 The UK manufacturing sector ranks 8th globally by value of output 👉 The sector contributes a Gross Value Added (GVA) of £224 billion 👉 The manufacturing sector employs 2.6 million people in the UK 👉 The industry accounts for 49% of all UK exports Here's to hoping that something will change in the future, I have no doubt that we can do it! ⚙ I'll leave you with this image of a set of freshly machined form wheel bodies. The highest achievers believe that perfection is possible ... Sir Henry Royce said, "Strive for perfection in everything you do. Take the best that exists and make it better. When it does not exist, design it." The pressure to create a perfect design is perhaps even more significant today than in 1904 when Royce invented the first official Rolls-Royce car. But, with Resilient Engineering, you can have the tools to enhance the reliability of your critical functions, reduce the stress of potential failures, and gain greater confidence in the robustness and reliability of your design.
